  • Great Location for Black Hills Fun

"We really enjoyed this cabin for our family with 5 kids. It was a great location for seeing the whole area. The cabin was clean and the owner was very responsive to all our questions."

  • Perfect "Big Chill" getaway

"A group of college buddies (graduated university in 1981) made a commitment to each other to all gather for a "Big Chill" vacation after all our children were out of the house and on their own. It took 33 years, but we kept our promise and Aly's Getaway was a perfect setting for us. The venue was perfect for three couples. We enjoyed long walks, peace and quite, excursions into Deadwood and surrounding communities. The hot tub was a nice bonus and the privacy was perfect. My wife and I plan to return with our grown children sometime in the future."

  • The absolute best spot for seeing the Black Hills of South Dakota

"My husband, his sister and her spouse spent a whole week here in August. Very clean, and everything was provided: more cooking utensils than you could possibly need, a microwave, washer & dryer (and detergent), large frig, coolers we used to take cold drinks along for the day - everything. All you need to bring along is your clothing and toothbrush. The whole cabin is decorated in a rustic décor, complete with elk head mounted above the fireplace. There is plenty of parking, even if you have a trailer. Behind the cabin/house is a 40-yard mowed path to the Michelson Trail, and great Rails-to-Trails project that goes 109 miles. I walked most mornings, and saw lots of deer, turkeys, and one woman saw a coyote. The scenery is beautiful! The cabin is ten minutes max to Custer State Park, 15 minutes to Crazy Horse Monument, half an hour to the Mammoth Site, and about an hour from Sturgis. We were there the week after Sturgis, and all the shops in Custer had their t-shirts reduced quite a bit. Be sure to stop in at the owners grocery store, and right across the street is my favorite, "A Walk in the Woods", with the prettiest restrooms I've ever seen. The pizza shop right down town was terrific, with lots of seating outside when the weather is nice. The only negative was no internet, but my brother-in-law brought along a device that enabled us to get on each day. Good cell phone reception for Verizon users. Having two full-sized bathrooms was wonderful, and there was plenty of sleeping space for at least 7, not including 3 couches and two recliners. The folks in the community were extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!"

  • Shady Grove

"Shady Grove is an awesome cabin nestled in a perfect location. We arrived to freshly baked blueberry muffins and a vase of hand-picked wildflowers! It is spacious, sparkling clean, tastefully decorated, and has 2 decks to choose from(!). It is also centrally located, which means Custer State Park and all the other Black Hills highlights are not too far away. Carol and Lyn are gracious hosts. They respected our privacy, but were very approachable for a recommendation of a good nearby hike, restaurant, or anything else we were wondering about. We highly recommend Shady Grove and hope to return for our next visit out west. We also recommend Wild Mustang Sanctuary in Hot Springs for one of your SD adventures-- good times!"
