  • Definitely recommend

"Our family of 6 with 4 boys ranging from age 4-17 spent 4 nights in the cottage. The description and pics on vrbo were accurate. We cooked breakfast at the cottage, then did day trips in different directions, which worked out really well. My husband and older boys did some fishing in the area in the evenings also. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything needed, and cottage was nicely decorated. Downsides are few, but may include only1 tv, 1 bathroom, no wi-fi, and no use of credit cards. The ambience of the cottage makes you forget these things! The owners live up the road and were very nice. Communication prior to our visit was also very prompt. We saw deer and turkey each day. We would definitely recommend!"

  • Awestruck in the Black Hills

"Our first impression of the Black Hills could not have been any better! Arlyn and Kim went out of their way to help us (even with unexpected work related problems). The accomadations were ideal and with the cabin centrally located, it made for easy travel. The cabin has everything you need and even if you did need something they would not hesitate to get it for you. It's an area that everyone should consider was planning a vacation! We'll be back."

  • Nice and peaceful

"My husband and I and another couple rented this cabin for a week and we wanted to stay even longer. Brought our ATV side by sides. Many trails close to this area and Nemo is only 5 miles away. You can do easy gravel trails, steep rock riddled trails by Nemo or head up towards Vanocker for awesome boulder jumping trails. Hot tub was wonderful after a full day of 4 wheeling, the bugs are minimal and the temp was beautiful for the week we stayed. Very clean cabin with everything you need in the kitchen to cook. Screened in porch with a perfect view of the mountains. We will be back next year! Worth every penny."

  • What a treasure.....tucked back in the woods........with a tranquil and beautiful setting!

"We were so happy to find Cabin at Green Mountain. What a cozy, well equipped cabin---You can hardly call it a cabin, because it's sooooo much more than that. The house is nestled in the woods, with beautiful mountain and valley views. Everything you need in the kitchen, for sure. The location allowed us to venture off on day trips quite easily.........and the owners were so caring and helpful and showed hospitality to the MAX!! It's such a beautiful place, and watching the horses graze in the open grassy fields and counting all the deer.......amazing! If you want peace and beauty, this is the place, FOR SURE! Enjoy yourselves.........we certainly did!!!"

Nemo Travel Tips

Access the Wild West with Nemo Vacation Rentals

There is one place to get away from it all, and yet find so much to do and so many places to explore: Nemo, South Dakota, nestled in the rugged and inspiring Black Hills. Nemo vacation rentals are popular with travelers looking to visit the historic and beautiful landscapes of western South Dakota. Hotels are few and far between in this rugged landscape, and many travelers are finding that vacation rentals put them exactly where they want to spend their time.

Famous and Infamous: Nemo, Deadwood, and Sturgis

Nemo is close to Sturgis, which hosts the famous annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Every year, bikers from across North America, and even from Europe, rally at Sturgis and tour the open highways of South Dakota, rolling through the Black Hills and east to the Badlands. Nemo cabins provide Black Hills lodging and access to the famous Black Hills gold rush town of Deadwood, which was recently popularized by the cable television series of the same name. Some of the vacation rental homes in the area date back to the late 19th Century, when the area was first colonized by the United States.

What to Do in the Black Hills

The Black Hills National Forest has over 1.2 million acres of wilderness, and is home to many national historical sites and landmarks. The hills are covered in thick ponderosa pine and offer countless scenic and remote hiking trails - over 450 miles of them in total length! Some lead to the summit of Harney Peak, the highest point in the forest. Visitors can see mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and if they're lucky, mountain lions. The forest is home to over 200 species of birds, and is popular with sport fisherman. Within 90 minutes of Nemo, one can visit Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park (famous for the Battle of Little Big Horn), Jewel Cave National Monument and Badlands National Park.
