  • Amazing time!

"Our family had a fabulous time at this beautiful cabin. It did get warm upstairs, but we found that if we kept the windows open at night then the cool air made it up there and we all slept comfortably. The beds were super comfy, the kitchen was great to cook in, and everyone enjoyed the amenities. We loved sitting on the porch at night watching the deer and looking at the stars. We would rent this cabin again in a heartbeat!"

  • Great retreat

"Thanks to owners for hospitality. Wonderful mountain retreat with great views. Within an hour of Mt. Rushmore, closer to deadwood, Lead, and Sturgis. Saw many other cabins and ranches. Most didn't compare. Not much in Nemo, better ask price before you buy at camp stores there. Plenty of deer from Nemo to cabin."

  • Gorgeous cabin!

"We were lucky enough to find this lovely cabin for our first trip to South Dakota. We were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday and couldn't think of a better place to be! The cabin is beautifully decorated, very well maintained and clean. We couldn't ask for more! Thank you to the very hospitable owners. Wish we did not have to leave so soon!"

  • Shady Grove

"Shady Grove is an awesome cabin nestled in a perfect location. We arrived to freshly baked blueberry muffins and a vase of hand-picked wildflowers! It is spacious, sparkling clean, tastefully decorated, and has 2 decks to choose from(!). It is also centrally located, which means Custer State Park and all the other Black Hills highlights are not too far away. Carol and Lyn are gracious hosts. They respected our privacy, but were very approachable for a recommendation of a good nearby hike, restaurant, or anything else we were wondering about. We highly recommend Shady Grove and hope to return for our next visit out west. We also recommend Wild Mustang Sanctuary in Hot Springs for one of your SD adventures-- good times!"

Nemo Travel Tips

Access the Wild West with Nemo Vacation Rentals

There is one place to get away from it all, and yet find so much to do and so many places to explore: Nemo, South Dakota, nestled in the rugged and inspiring Black Hills. Nemo vacation rentals are popular with travelers looking to visit the historic and beautiful landscapes of western South Dakota. Hotels are few and far between in this rugged landscape, and many travelers are finding that vacation rentals put them exactly where they want to spend their time.

Famous and Infamous: Nemo, Deadwood, and Sturgis

Nemo is close to Sturgis, which hosts the famous annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Every year, bikers from across North America, and even from Europe, rally at Sturgis and tour the open highways of South Dakota, rolling through the Black Hills and east to the Badlands. Nemo cabins provide Black Hills lodging and access to the famous Black Hills gold rush town of Deadwood, which was recently popularized by the cable television series of the same name. Some of the vacation rental homes in the area date back to the late 19th Century, when the area was first colonized by the United States.

What to Do in the Black Hills

The Black Hills National Forest has over 1.2 million acres of wilderness, and is home to many national historical sites and landmarks. The hills are covered in thick ponderosa pine and offer countless scenic and remote hiking trails - over 450 miles of them in total length! Some lead to the summit of Harney Peak, the highest point in the forest. Visitors can see mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and if they're lucky, mountain lions. The forest is home to over 200 species of birds, and is popular with sport fisherman. Within 90 minutes of Nemo, one can visit Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park (famous for the Battle of Little Big Horn), Jewel Cave National Monument and Badlands National Park.
