  • great hideaway!

"We stayed 5 days at Dragon's Lair. Not hard to find and the porch was great for morning coffee and evening dinners. Covenient to Rushmore and Deadwood, and we were able to range out to the Badlands and Rapid City. It's a beautful location."

  • Our Very First Family Vacation

"My little family and I had a great time staying in this lovely cabin as we visited many places in the Blackhills in only 3 nights and 4 days. On our way from Northeast Nebraska we first drove through the badlands which were absolutely amazing and breathtaking and then stopped in Rapid City to eat and stop at Storybook island for my 2 year old (she loved it and so did the rest of us...did I mention it's just a free will donation!) Then we were off to the peaceful Cabin outside of Nemo, SD. It was very quiet and we loved just relaxing after a long night/day of driving and exploring the outdoors (the backyard) which my 11 year old just thought was pretty great. The cabin was so new and super clean and comfortable from the beds to the nice TV that we did turn on because we don't have cable at home. It was nice to be able to bring some food in the cooler to put into the cabin's refrigerator and grill and cook while having about anything you could possibly need to use right there provided. We made a few meals which saved on money and we even packed a lunch which saved us on a lot of time to be able to do more on our bid full day! Here is what we did in order of what my son loved from best to still really fun :)! Cosmos Mystery area near Keystone Tramway slide/Buffalo burgers on top (keystone, SD) Mt. Rushmore/ice cream...thank you Thomas Jefferson. Hiking up to the Cathedral Spires Custer State Park Badlands...climbing the rocks Evans Plunge Spearfish Thank you Carol and Lin for a great affordable place to stay! We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely recommend you to family and friends and we know where we will stay on our next visit! We had a great time on our very first family vacation. Thank you."

  • Amazing time!

"Our family had a fabulous time at this beautiful cabin. It did get warm upstairs, but we found that if we kept the windows open at night then the cool air made it up there and we all slept comfortably. The beds were super comfy, the kitchen was great to cook in, and everyone enjoyed the amenities. We loved sitting on the porch at night watching the deer and looking at the stars. We would rent this cabin again in a heartbeat!"

  • Great House Great Location

"This well kept, clean house is ideally situated for all the attractions of the Black Hills and Rapid City. We walked to the Creek for fly fishing and the trail system was just a stroll away (or a few seconds on a 4 wheeler) The neighborhood is all about horses and some of the nearby properties are not as well kept as this home. That being said the house had everything we needed and certainly represents excellent value for money."

Nemo Travel Tips

Access the Wild West with Nemo Vacation Rentals

There is one place to get away from it all, and yet find so much to do and so many places to explore: Nemo, South Dakota, nestled in the rugged and inspiring Black Hills. Nemo vacation rentals are popular with travelers looking to visit the historic and beautiful landscapes of western South Dakota. Hotels are few and far between in this rugged landscape, and many travelers are finding that vacation rentals put them exactly where they want to spend their time.

Famous and Infamous: Nemo, Deadwood, and Sturgis

Nemo is close to Sturgis, which hosts the famous annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Every year, bikers from across North America, and even from Europe, rally at Sturgis and tour the open highways of South Dakota, rolling through the Black Hills and east to the Badlands. Nemo cabins provide Black Hills lodging and access to the famous Black Hills gold rush town of Deadwood, which was recently popularized by the cable television series of the same name. Some of the vacation rental homes in the area date back to the late 19th Century, when the area was first colonized by the United States.

What to Do in the Black Hills

The Black Hills National Forest has over 1.2 million acres of wilderness, and is home to many national historical sites and landmarks. The hills are covered in thick ponderosa pine and offer countless scenic and remote hiking trails - over 450 miles of them in total length! Some lead to the summit of Harney Peak, the highest point in the forest. Visitors can see mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and if they're lucky, mountain lions. The forest is home to over 200 species of birds, and is popular with sport fisherman. Within 90 minutes of Nemo, one can visit Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park (famous for the Battle of Little Big Horn), Jewel Cave National Monument and Badlands National Park.
