Nice, large, well stocked cabin in a great location
"After one week in the cabin here are our thoughts from a family of 6.
-beautiful location not far from the many attractions in the area. We were at each destination within 30-45 min. (took scenic roads mostly) and had a nice, quiet place to spend our evenings. We enjoyed Custer Park, Bear Country, Crystal Caves, Reptile Gardens, Black Hills Maze, Mt. Rushmore, President Wax Museum, and more.
-enjoyed viewing wildlife from the deck (deer, snowshoe rabbits, birds, chipmunks, and squirrels)
-open floor plan allows for easy interaction and makes the cabin feel even larger than it already is.
-the cabin is well stocked, especially the kitchen. The owners have clearly thought of everything travelers might need and provided it for you. Bring food and clothes and you are set.
-You access the downstairs by a steep, narrow spiral staircase. This could be difficult for some to navigate however there is also access through an exterior door.
-there is not a railing on the loft overlooking the living/dining areas. What a fun place for the kids to stay and hang out in yet it would not be ideal for small children due to the ladder you use to get to it and that there isn't a railing to protect them from falling off.
We found this cabin to be great. Just the amount of thought that went into making sure it had everything travelers would want/need made it well worth the price."

"The Thunder Ridge Lodge was a great find for our family gathering. Very clean, convenient location to Black Hills, and plenty of room for 12 visitors. The layout of the house is perfect for hosting separate families as each can have their own "corner" of the house without issue. The kitchen is well equipped with all the appliances you may need for cooking for a large group.
Only recommendations for the owner/manager; (1) the power went out for a couple of hours and we looked for candles to provide additional lighting and was only able to find a single decorative candle that had very little wick/wax left. I would recommend back up light resources to have on hand. (2) The house is on a nice lot but not able to enjoy the grounds around the house as they were over ridden with very tall weeds. I would recommend knocking down some of the weeds surrounding the house to make the grounds more enjoyable to guests.
Overall, a great find and a great place to relax and hang out with family!"

"Thanks for using your bunk house. It had rained before we got there and during our stay. Some of the doors were hard to close because of the rain. However, we trusted no one would walk in on us. Our 2 yr old and 6 yr old were delighted with the cowboy hats and the saddles to pretend they were real cowboys even had jail house keys. We even had to buy a cowboy hat for the 2 yr old. The Adults enjoyed the huge comfortable space. We did not need the air conditioner, but did enjoy the laundry room and clean clothes. It was amazingly close to Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore to enjoy night programs. It was also nice to have home cooked breakfasts and you can see Mt. Rushmore from just outside the back door. We also played some miniature golf in Rapid City. The rabbits and other small wildlife may be seen out the windows. It was a nice time to visit with family and friends."

"This home was wonderful to explore the natural beauty of Black Hills and the surrounding areas. We had 2 families stay with a total of 11 and it was comfortable. The kids enjoyed morning time with Tommy and we all enjoyed Bonnie's jam! Very lovely hosts!"
