  • Wonderful, Spacious Home!

"Our family had a reunion at this home August 20-August 24, 2014. We had 21 adults and 10 children (ages 13 to 2 years). We all had a ton of room, plenty of beds and enjoyed the amazing views. Our children had the opportunity to “swim” in the hot-tub, and TJ came over and assisted with letting the kids’ zip-line. We appreciated the time he and Kristen (Home-owners) put into answering all of our questions and accommodating a large group. The house was cozy, comfortable and did I mention the views??  The deck has an incredible view of the hills and you just felt at peace while at this home. With having the kids there, we did a lot of the site-seeing that you would expect (Watiki Water Park, Reptile Gardens, Bear Country USA, Mount Rushmore, etc.) and the drive back and forth was quick (about 35 minutes to Rapid City) so the property isn’t too far out. I would definitely recommend this home to any family and larger group gathering! Thank You for sharing your home with all of us!"

  • Fantastic - Regretted Having to Leave!

"My family could have not selected a more beautiful home with amazing views to spend Christmas. Our gracious and thoughtful hosts, Bonnie and Dick, had a decorated, live tree in the living room and homemade jam in the kitchen. Much to the delight of the children, deer grazed in the yard, and a flock of grouse arrived every morning. The home is spacious, well-maintained, and immaculate, and the kitchen was fully stocked with cooking supplies, dishes, and paper products. The home is conveniently located near Custer State Park and other area attractions. There is so much to do and see that we plan a return trip. Our family will definitely stay at this property and highly recommend it to families or a group of friends who want a relaxing, fun-filled vacation any time of the year."

  • The absolute best spot for seeing the Black Hills of South Dakota

"My husband, his sister and her spouse spent a whole week here in August. Very clean, and everything was provided: more cooking utensils than you could possibly need, a microwave, washer & dryer (and detergent), large frig, coolers we used to take cold drinks along for the day - everything. All you need to bring along is your clothing and toothbrush. The whole cabin is decorated in a rustic décor, complete with elk head mounted above the fireplace. There is plenty of parking, even if you have a trailer. Behind the cabin/house is a 40-yard mowed path to the Michelson Trail, and great Rails-to-Trails project that goes 109 miles. I walked most mornings, and saw lots of deer, turkeys, and one woman saw a coyote. The scenery is beautiful! The cabin is ten minutes max to Custer State Park, 15 minutes to Crazy Horse Monument, half an hour to the Mammoth Site, and about an hour from Sturgis. We were there the week after Sturgis, and all the shops in Custer had their t-shirts reduced quite a bit. Be sure to stop in at the owners grocery store, and right across the street is my favorite, "A Walk in the Woods", with the prettiest restrooms I've ever seen. The pizza shop right down town was terrific, with lots of seating outside when the weather is nice. The only negative was no internet, but my brother-in-law brought along a device that enabled us to get on each day. Good cell phone reception for Verizon users. Having two full-sized bathrooms was wonderful, and there was plenty of sleeping space for at least 7, not including 3 couches and two recliners. The folks in the community were extremely friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!"

  • Cedar House

"The Cedar House was rented by us and our 14 children, grandchildren, and spouses. It was perfect place for all ages! We had plenty of room for everyone to sleep. We did bring 2 blowup mattresses which one was put in the loft for kids to sleep. The house was roomy and perfectly laid out for all to have their own space. We were close to many activities but also had much to do at Cedar House. The hot tub, decks, wild life, fishing and beautiful scenery was awesome to just sit and relax morning or evening. Thanks for Cathy for visiting with us and answering all of our questions and for sharing your beautiful house. Our 45th anniversary will always be remembered in your beautiful state."
