Recent South Dakota property reviews

  • Good as gold in the Black Hills

"A gorgeous cabin in the beautifully scenic Black Hills of South Dakota, this was a great place to stay for our vacation. Located at Terry Peak ski resort, it was a short drive to historic Deadwood-- and super views as you drive! The owners were very easy to work with, and communication with them was always a breeze. This was my first time renting through VRBO, and the friendliness of the owners really made me feel at ease and confident about everything. When we arrived, the cabin itself was immaculately clean, quite comfortable, and very well appointed in the kitchen and throughout. It was spacious and roomy, and a very easy place to relax and unwind, or grill up a feast. The hot tub on the deck was awesome -- it was so wonderful to loosen muscles in it after a day trip of hiking through the Badlands, or just to relax in it simply because it was there. The cabin does not have AC, but honestly it doesn't need it. I was there during the first week of July, and the big trees on the property keep the cabin shaded, so the cabin was never hot. And being located up on the mountain, the nights cooled off nicely (into the low 50s), and the mornings had a crisp coolness that was refreshing and invigorating."

  • Charming house

"What a lovely charming place! I am still in there in my thoughts. The house has a very warm and southern atmosphere, the owners did an excellent job decorating the interior and the backyard. We have enjoyed our evenings cooking in the kitchen or barbequeing outside and the garden offered fresh herbs to our taste. We did soak in the jacuzzi one night gazing at the stars. I highly recommend the property to travelers that would like to be close to Mount Rushmore."

  • Loved it!

"Stayed here with family - four adults and four children - three generations. It was a lovely place to stay, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything a family needs. The younger grandkids would run down to the pastture each morning to say hello to the horses. Grandaughter, Shelby, was so sad to leave her 'special' horse and the stuffed bear in the cabin. Great location and really close to monuments, Custer National Park and other attractions. Just up the road (385) is a local restaurant with the best burgers (Sugar Shack). We saw hail the size of golfballs, lots of rolling thunder (motorcycles) and great natural beauty. You can't go wrong by staying here! Only downside was that wifi was iffy - but could have been due to the storms. But heck, we were on vacation so we got over it."
