  • Absolutely Wonderful!

"We stayed at the D. A. Jewell Home in June 2013 to celebrate my 60th Birthday. My husband, our 3 children and their spouses and our 6 grandchildren (ages 10 months to 7 years old last year) enjoyed the property so much we begged my husband to return for my 61st birthday, which we did in June. The home is perfect for a multi-family vacation as each family has separate areas to relax, sleep or just get away from each other for a bit. The inside is truly a "jewel" - we love the architecture and furnishing throughout. The listing description and pictures and great but to see it in person is amazing. We started each morning on the front porch with our coffee and ended each day back on the porch with coffee, refreshments...watching the grandkids run around the yard catching fire flies...they had a ball! Our family loves to relax and swim on vacation so most of our daytime hours are spent at the pool. The pool house, which is very large, was our gathering place for lunch and dinner as well. Both the main house kitchen and pool house kitchen are well equipped so anything you might need for food preparation is supplied. There are also two kitchens on the second floor, which our son-in-law took advantage of...he loves to have a late-night snack! The guys loved the "man-cave", which they dubbed it, on the second floor at night after all the kids were in bed; watched the giant flat-screen, had refreshments and snacks and relaxed. Last year we visited the Chickamauga Battlegrounds, the Chattanooga Aquarium and Zoo. This year we made return trips to the Aquarium and the Zoo (with little children this is a must!). But mostly we enjoyed the pool, the beautiful grounds and the town (super friendly throughout). We never ate out (I love to cook) so I can't recommend restaurants but some of our family visited the new cupcake bakery/ice cream parlor in town, which is only a block away, and enjoyed it very much . Our family would love to make this an annual vacation trip...already working on strong-arming my husband into making a reservation for June 2015!"

  • Nice area choice for a quiet getaway.

"Clean cabin with a great view for a great price. Quiet and private mountainside. No doubt the best option over a hotel or motel for relaxing. No problems, no complaints."

  • Great trip!

"We had a great vacation at Hilltop House. Everything was in perfect order and exactly as described. Very close to everything in Chattanooga. We all slept wonderfully on the comfortable mattresses. My newborn slept for 7 hours for the first time and did it the rest of the week; he loved the rental. Thanks Jim and Ernestene."

  • Third time in a Ryan property!

"This is the first time we stay at this property, but our 3rd time renting from Ms. Ryan (have rented the 4 bedroom house twice before). The house is huge, comfortable and clean. Most bedrooms have a DVD player which was a plus with our kids. Modern front loading washer/dryer was wonderful as we did not have to come home in a rush to do the laundry. There is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy and not get on each other's nerves. Under 10 minutes drive to the downtown area and all the attractions. The price was great as our group would have had to rent 3 hotel rooms to accommodate all. The kitchen is well equipped and we saved a lot of money on meals. We plan to rent Ms. Ryan's 3 bedroom property next year when our group is not as big and certainly look forward to it."
