  • Excellent getaway for a large group!

"I spent 3 days at this cabin with a dozen women. We each had a comfortable bed, plenty of room, ample supplies in the kitchen and a quiet place to relax. The owner, Jason, was available any time we had questions and his communication was excellent. Highly recommend this cabin and it's owner for your large groups."

  • Lovely sceened in porch, and close to the water!

"We rented this place for a relaxing July 4th getaway. We had six adults and one toddler. The screened in porch really made this house for us - we probably spent 90% of our time out there. The open kitchen/living/dining was equally as enjoyable - we grilled every night and really used that kitchen well (we love to cook on vacation). The bedrooms were as described. I'd say that if we had had another adult couple with us, it would have felt a bit crowded. With three couples, we each had our own room and the toddler got his own room in the basement. That way, each couple had their own bathroom to themselves, which was pretty nice. The walk down to the water really is a very short distance (maybe 3 minutes max) but the drive is pretty steep so it made more sense for us to just drive our car down there (not to mention all the stuff we lugged down to the water). The little cove is pretty simple so if you're looking for a fancy dock/swimming place, this may not be for you. But it was a great little slope into the water (perfect for our toddler to walk down and stick his feet in the water). My ONLY complaint about this place is there is NO cell phone reception if you have AT&T and only spotty at best reception if you have Verizon. There is a home phone but it does not allow for any dialing out (?) and you have to use a calling card. This was frustrating because we bought a calling card and of course we couldn't figure out how to use it...so we were without any sort of phone for the entire week, unless we drove into town. But the owner did tell me all of this upfront so it wasn't a surprise. Overall, this place was great and we wouldn't hesistate coming back!"

  • Great Family Vacation

"For the past 10+ years, we have taken our kids to a lake in Tennessee. It has become a family tradition. The kids are growing older and after this year's trip, I asked them if they wanted to continue to do this since they were getting older. Their reply, "dad we want to keep doing this for the next 10+ years!" We have stayed at many amazing places, but Rice's Retreat has been one of our favorites. In fact, after 10+ years of staying in different homes on the lakes, we feel like we have found our permanent location and plan to return to Rice's Retreat in 2015! So, don't take our week :-)! Jolene, we had a great time and you have a beautiful home. We felt like we were treated with great hospitality!"
