  • A great place for our family reunion!

"We gathered here from three different states and one Canadian Province for a family reunion and it was the perfect place. The 6 bedrooms allowed us all to have privacy and time away from the family. The "suite" at the top of the house we gave over to my sister and her fiance and they really enjoyed the private deck and the Jacuzzi. My folks, who have some mobility issues, really appreciated the ramp from the parking lot and that so much could be done on the main floor, as well as the handicapped-accessible bathroom in their room on that floor. The kids did really well in the queen-sized bunk beds, too! All bedrooms have their own bathroom with shower and there's an additional bathroom off the main floor living room. The upstairs living area, dining, and cooking area is where most of us spent the time together, but the downstairs offered a really nice TV and more places to sit. The pool table was a nice addition and the full bar space came in handy for storing more things to drink to have close to hand. The wrap-around decks allowed for plenty of sitting and photo opportunities as we took in great weather (made all the nicer by being such a contrast to the cold and snow we'd left behind). Great views, a hot tub, and a porch swing. Only about 30 minutes from the (sprawling, touristy, loud, crowded) town of Gatlinburg, and about the same from some really nice hiking in Smoky Mountains National Forest. Believe the owner when she says that the GPS doesn't have the right maps for the mountain! We had a bit of trouble finding the place at first, but once there, we had no trouble getting back. The only downside is that the place isn't exactly isolated, with several other rentals within a stone's throw, each of which seemed to choose a different night to party until well after midnight. But that seems like it would be the case pretty much anywhere in this area, so don't let that deter you. A wonderful place, perfect for what we wanted."

  • Incredible!

"For years I've wanted to stay at Mountainbrook and finally it was available when I planned to visit. Prior to taking possession, an ugly thought crossed my mind that perhaps it would not live up to my expectations. Well, that was definitely not the case. It was all I had hoped it would be and more! Most folks seek a cabin/chalet with incredible views of the mountains, I did when first visiting Gatlinburg and for many years thereafter. However, over the years I noticed that I was much more relaxed and experienced such a sense of peacefulness when staying in a cabin/chalet surrounded by forest that those stays always seemed longer than they actually were! Since that revelation, I only SEEK lodging in the woods. Mountainbrook is the epitomy of relaxation, privacy, and comfort... it's in a class all by itself - the woods, the creek, and amenities are heavenly. I travel to Gatlinburg 3 to 4 times a year, usually spur of the moment, and Mountainbrook will be the FIRST rental I check for availability. I plan to return for many years to come!"

  • Thanksgiving Retreat

"We found Brooksong to be very homey and very clean. We enjoyed a Thanksgiving Turkey dinner while it snow flurried outside and the fire place was burning. What a relaxing time. The only down fall I can think of is the upstairs loft sleeping. It would probably be comfortable for a child but as two adults and we had to put every blanket in the house on the pull out sofa to not feel the springs and be comfortable. Other than that everything was perfect and the rate was perfect for a small get away. I do agree that a 4 wheel or AWD vehicle would be better to climb those mountains. Thank you for sharing your cabin."

  • Breathtaking view

"This cabin is exceptional! It is very roomy with everything needed for a relaxing weekend. We had 4 families stay in this cabin with no crowding. Everyone had their own private space with LOTS of comfy beds to sleep in. THE VIEW.... WOW!!!! We arrived to our cabin at night so we had no real idea of what we would be waking up to the next morning. Stepping into the living room literally took our breaths away. The front wall all windows with the beautiful snowy mountains as their back drop. We arrived on a day of bad weather and wasn't sure what to expect when we got there but Kelly was amazing. She went out of her way to make sure it was safe for us to get up the mountain and checked in on us to make sure we arrived safely and that all our needs were met. She was wonderful and the cabin was beautiful. I HIGHLY recommend this cabin and Southern Bear Cabin Rentals to accommodate anyone. We will be back and using Kelly again for our next trip to the mountains."
