"Our planned fall break camping trip was a total washout. I had to find a dry alternative for 4 adults, 1 sullen teenager and 5 elementary aged children with little notice. Ted was awesome to work with. The house was amazing. The bunk room was perfect for the little kids. The game room and screening room kept everyone entertained (while it poured rain). When it was clear it was nice to fish a little from the dock. The location on the ridge makes walking down to and up from the dock a fitness opportunity (read not for the elderly or infirm). All and all a great fall break even with the constant threat of flooding (so happy we weren't in a tent)! We will be back."

"Sommer Retreat is a great vacation home. We had a group of 12 and everyone had their own space. Our twenty-something aged kids and friends took over the lower two levels and the 'grown ups' had the upper levels. There was plenty of space for cooking, eating and being together as well as plenty of space to 'get away'. The decks on each level offer great outdoor relaxation. The deck off of the kitchen is where we spent many a morning with coffee and breakfast and evenings relaxing. The stairs to the lake are steep, but manageable. Access to the lake was also accommodating. The water is wonderfully warm and we spent much time swimming and floating. We mostly ate in, as eating out with this many people is expensive...there was plenty of room to cook, and the 'kids' pitched in with cooking as well. All in all it was a great family vacation, the home is beautiful and I would recommend Sommer Retreat to anyone."

"Great time had by all. Perfect for the family. Four families met here with a total of 20 people. Kids loved the dock and clear deep water to swim in. So glad we brought our boat. Lake was perfect for skiing and tubing. Water was warm and sooo clear! At night the kids loved the ping-pong and pool table and watched movies every night in the theater room. Only issue we had was the fact we ran out of propane for the grill. It was filled the next day for us which was no problem because there are two grills. Lots of steps to get the the water but that turned into exercise for us! We would go back."

"We gathered family from three surrounding states to this great get away in Tennessee. The house has plenty of room for everyone to spread out, and we enjoyed our time together. The kitchen was truly an asset, with two ovens for cooking, 5 burners on the stove and a microwave, and an extra refrigerator downstairs for storage. Our favorite time was having everyone gather at the breakfast bar in the morning for a cup of coffee or juice and conversation while several in the kitchen were preparing the meal. It was a quick transition to serving bar, and gathering at the large dining table. Our 90 yr old mother was more than comfortable here, and able to navigate the main floor easily. I am sure that the amenities are an even greater plus in the summer months when you would utilize the dock."
