  • Wonderful Experience!

"The cabin was PHENOMENAL! Well-stocked, clean, and absolutely gorgeous! The pool and hot tub were fantastic, and big enough to fit lots of little ones and adults. The kitchen provided everything you could ever need- it felt like a home away from home. We had 4 adults and 8 children and the cabin accommodated every single one of us and more. The beds were comfortable, ample sitting room, and the quiet, dead-end location on Amet Drive was a plus. Contrary to another review, we didn't see one single bug besides moths. I especially enjoyed that Rick provides a computer for you to use- what an expected perk! I loved the safety features on the doors with the electronic panel for locking the pool- it made it very kid-friendly and gave much peace of mind. I loved the pool table, and the kids loved the ping-pong and Foosball tables. We never had a chance to use the theater, but we wish we had. We even had a place for a small bonfire, and the kids loved making s'mores! The owner was phenomenal, easy to work with, and went above and beyond all expectations. This was by far the best vacation I have had in a long time, and we enjoyed the easy access to Gatlinburg. I would recommend this place for ANYONE! We didn't want to leave :( Thank you, Rick! You gave us the vacation we needed and could remember for many years to come!!"

  • Comfort on vacation

"We've rented a lot of cabins in the Smokies over the years. Most of them look a little tired but are still OK. Sunset Lodge, though not huge, was by far the nicest one we've ever stayed in. The extra decorating touches the owners have put into this cabin give it such a homey feeling. We also prefer to rent directly from the owner rather than property management companies. We didn't go to do all the tourist stuff. We went to spend time together as a family over Thanksgiving, hit some of our favorite spots and just relax so we spent a lot of time cooking, relaxing in the hot tub, watching football etc. It snowed a little on Thanksgiving Day which we loved. The beds were ultra comfortable. My little dog was even comfortable (we never left her alone though.). Wifi worked great as did cable TV. Nothing like snuggling up to the gas fireplace, watching the Macy's Day parade with a turkey in the oven and the scenery of the Smokies. It was a little hard to find after dark and our GPS's tended to disagree but we always found it eventually. There are some steep roads in that area. I recommend coming in during daylight the first time. I hope we can go and stay there again on our next trip. Thank you Carolyn for the swift email responses and hospitality. You're very fortunate to have such a lovely vacation home."

  • Chalet in the Mountains

"We stayed over Thanksgiving 2014 and had a wonderful time. The home sits at the top of a hill over looking Lake Holston from the rear of the house. The home had plenty of everything, towels, pillows, sheets etc. There was Sleeping for eight but the owner also had a couple of twin mattresses to throw on the floor. The weather was cold and we had plenty of firewood to burn to keep the house "toasty' without the furnace. There is a loft in the house which represents the 4th bedroom. It was a great place for the kids and they had there own bath. The house is about 15 minutes from Bristol. Be sure to do the Bristol Cave tour and if you are there during the holidays don't miss the "Speedway Lights for Christmas". They actually let you do a lap on the track as part of the Christmas tour. Go early as the lines to get in our long but worth the wait. The owner allowed us to bring a dog even though the listing says " No Pets". Our experience with the rental was good and would recommend the listing."
