In Rutherford County, you can find the Oaklands Historic House Museum and the Stones River National Battlefield near Murfreesboro. There is a driving route that you can follow touring the most significant historic sites of Middle Tennessee. Traveling at your own pace, you can visit forts, battle sites, museums and old homes steeped in history and Tennessee culture.
