  • Simply in Awe of this Amazing Place!

"Curt and his furry friends are AMAZING hosts! What a way to experience the Big Bend for the first time (for us). Maggie, Billy, Cody and Ilene (burros and horses) kept us entertained during our Happy Hours on the patio each night. And, Curt is simply the best tour guide around. We were relaxed, comfortable and simply in awe of this amazing place. Popcorn and Margaritas upon arrival = awesome! AM burro wake up calls / visits = hilarious! Peace and tranquility = priceless! Thank you SO MUCH to Curtis, Maggie, Billy, Cody, Ileen, Haagen, Daz, Pepper, Helen and all the rest. We loved it at the Tarantula Ranch! Highly Recommended!!!"

  • Great house to stay in at Big Bend

"We just recently stayed at this house while visiting Big Bend National Park. It is an older home that has lots of character. It reminded me of staying at my grandmother's house when I was growing up. The beds are comfortable and the house is very clean and has plenty of room. It was a great location to stay while visiting the national park. The town is very small but still has a few restaurants and a small store for necessities. The owner was very friendly and helpful as well. Thanks for sharing your house with us!"

  • Quiet neighborhood, great place to stay while visiting Big Bend and nearby places ...

"We had a great time visiting Marfa, Big Bend, McDonald's Observatory, Balmorhea State Park, all day trips from the house. It was neat and cozy. Had a fully stocked kitchen, a washer (no dryer), two full baths with showers meant to quickly get in/get out type (meaning, hot water runs out quickly :). However something needs to be done about the showerheads or maybe it is due to lack of water pressure. That is my only complaint! And although a single story house - each room seems to be on a different level (step here and a step there) - will take a little getting used to. Also you can park outside or you have to move the wire mesh to park inside. Mosquitoes and houseflies got in - although we are were conscious about closing the doors behind us. But this is summer and we are in Texas. It is to be expected. Again I am not taking any stars for these - that is this house's character. Great house. Whoever gets to stay there will I am sure like it as we did. Erin was awesome. Called back promptly every time. And yes, we will definitely stay there again the next time we are in that area."

  • Spring Break 2014

"Villa Terlingua was the ideal home base for our Big Bend adventures. With growing preteen/teenage children, our family needs room to spread out. The indoor spaces of this home are cozy and the outdoor spaces are breathtaking. The house is rustic, eclectic, and obviously built with love. Rustic does not mean roughing it, however. Hot water on demand in the middle of a ghost town! Who knew? Don't forget to look for the fossils in the shower. And for those who feel the need to stay connected to the outside world, there is internet access. The kitchen is well equipped, but you will want to stock up on groceries in Fort Stockton or Alpine before you make the trek to Terlingua. The local market is fine in an emergency, but expensive and limited. The real treasure of Villa Terlingua is the owner. What an amazing individual. She is a river and back country guide, a scholar, a protector of the environment, an activist, a volunteer, a respected community member. Her knowledge of and love for the area was indispensable as we planned our daily activities. Thanks to her guidance and connections, my husband and I felt very comfortable taking our children across the recently opened border to Boquillas del Carmen for the afternoon. We can't wait for Spring Break 2015 at Villa Terlingua."
