  • Could not have been better!!!

"Exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Remote and quiet with no artificial light for miles!"

  • Wonderful Retreat Spot

"This was an ideal spot for my week long solo retreat in Marfa! It is perfect for 1-2 people and right on the main strip with easy walking/biking to the center of town. I loved the loft -- open and bright, functional little kitchen area, huge beautiful bathroom and great outdoor deck. I would recommend this loft to anyone and David was great and responded to anything I needed with a easy going attitude. I hope to be back again next summer!"

  • Great "Home Base" for Big Bend Family Vacation

"This vacation home was the perfect fit for our family vacation in the Big Bend Area. It's a pleasant <10 mile drive south of Alpine and just enough off the road to give spectacular views and peace and quiet. We had everything we needed for the retreat that we were looking for--quaint, spacious, updated house with beautiful features and very nice touches, close enough to sites and shopping, but far enough away for quiet and stargazing (or moon gazing) at night. During our week, we visited the Museum of the Big Bend (at Sul Ross State University), the observatory at Ft. Davis, the swimming hole at Balmorhea, Marfa (of course), ghost town at Terlingua, Lajitas (with the goat mayor), Big Bend State Park, and Big Bend National Park. Alpine (closest town to the house) is plenty big for everything we needed (groceries, drugstore, etc.), and has its own charm and character as well, with plenty of local favorites (CowDog!) and interesting sites to see. We were pleasantly surprised to see not only fresh-picked flowers put out for us at the house, but also fresh eggs from Marfa. We felt like we had been welcomed into a friend's home, not some anonymous hotel. We made plenty of use of the games, books, and cookware provided (and learned to wonder how we had made it this far in life without a cast iron griddle). We would return to this retreat in a heartbeat, and are already trying to figure out when we can make that happen!"
