  • outstanding vacation home

"First off, I'll say that the owner of the house lives close by and is very responsive to questions via phone and text, plus she is a nice person. She has done an outstanding job of stocking the house with most anything you need, and the house is very clean and comfortable. Wifi, nice TV but really, we were there to explore West Texas. New appliances, plenty of hot water for showers, we much prefer this to any hotel anywhere."

  • Spring Break 2014

"Villa Terlingua was the ideal home base for our Big Bend adventures. With growing preteen/teenage children, our family needs room to spread out. The indoor spaces of this home are cozy and the outdoor spaces are breathtaking. The house is rustic, eclectic, and obviously built with love. Rustic does not mean roughing it, however. Hot water on demand in the middle of a ghost town! Who knew? Don't forget to look for the fossils in the shower. And for those who feel the need to stay connected to the outside world, there is internet access. The kitchen is well equipped, but you will want to stock up on groceries in Fort Stockton or Alpine before you make the trek to Terlingua. The local market is fine in an emergency, but expensive and limited. The real treasure of Villa Terlingua is the owner. What an amazing individual. She is a river and back country guide, a scholar, a protector of the environment, an activist, a volunteer, a respected community member. Her knowledge of and love for the area was indispensable as we planned our daily activities. Thanks to her guidance and connections, my husband and I felt very comfortable taking our children across the recently opened border to Boquillas del Carmen for the afternoon. We can't wait for Spring Break 2015 at Villa Terlingua."

  • Excellent!!!

"I was worried about accommodating 4 adults- especially in the kitchen. However, this place had everything one would need to simply have a fantastic time. A blender and margarita salt were among the things I was very suprised to find in the kitchen. The place was very thoughtfully designed and clean - even in the bathroom the host provided us with earth friendly body care products. It is also in a great location. Though you are literally in the middle of nowhere with Internet connection at your fingertips, in less than 30 minutes you can get to a nearby town that has a grocery store that carries even vegan and gluten-free products, a couple of restaurants, and a gas station. We can't wait to go back there again next year!"

"My wife and two sons stayed at this property and can't say enough good about how wonderful our stay was at Rancho Mula Oso. The house is very clean and well stocked. The Black Jack Crossing Golf Course which is close by, is one of the best courses in the U.S. We will stay there again when we are in the area. Thanks for sharing your home with us."
