  • Could not have been better!!!

"Exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Remote and quiet with no artificial light for miles!"

  • Excellent!!!

"I was worried about accommodating 4 adults- especially in the kitchen. However, this place had everything one would need to simply have a fantastic time. A blender and margarita salt were among the things I was very suprised to find in the kitchen. The place was very thoughtfully designed and clean - even in the bathroom the host provided us with earth friendly body care products. It is also in a great location. Though you are literally in the middle of nowhere with Internet connection at your fingertips, in less than 30 minutes you can get to a nearby town that has a grocery store that carries even vegan and gluten-free products, a couple of restaurants, and a gas station. We can't wait to go back there again next year!"

  • Wonderful Family Get Away

"Property much larger than I pictured. Very solid feel to this mobile home, held 10 of us very nicely & no one felt crowded. Very central location for this part of the country to enjoy day trips. Still felt somewhat remote. Very pleased! Can't wait to come back. Sincerely, Paula M"

  • Spring Break 2014

"Villa Terlingua was the ideal home base for our Big Bend adventures. With growing preteen/teenage children, our family needs room to spread out. The indoor spaces of this home are cozy and the outdoor spaces are breathtaking. The house is rustic, eclectic, and obviously built with love. Rustic does not mean roughing it, however. Hot water on demand in the middle of a ghost town! Who knew? Don't forget to look for the fossils in the shower. And for those who feel the need to stay connected to the outside world, there is internet access. The kitchen is well equipped, but you will want to stock up on groceries in Fort Stockton or Alpine before you make the trek to Terlingua. The local market is fine in an emergency, but expensive and limited. The real treasure of Villa Terlingua is the owner. What an amazing individual. She is a river and back country guide, a scholar, a protector of the environment, an activist, a volunteer, a respected community member. Her knowledge of and love for the area was indispensable as we planned our daily activities. Thanks to her guidance and connections, my husband and I felt very comfortable taking our children across the recently opened border to Boquillas del Carmen for the afternoon. We can't wait for Spring Break 2015 at Villa Terlingua."

Terlingua Travel Tips

Find Terlingua Vacation Rentals in This Ghost Town

Terlingua was once a Texas ghost town in the desert near the Rio Grande. Today, the abandoned mines and buildings attract numerous tourists, and Terlingua is a charming community that makes a great vacation destination. Terlingua vacation houses allow you to stay in comfort, without fighting for lodging with the other tourists in the area, and you have easy access to all the great things to see and do in the Terlingua area.

Minutes from Big Bend National Park

Big Bend Country lodging means you're close to all of the wonderful outdoor activities that Big Bend National Park is famous for. Try rafting on the Rio Grande, riding your motorcycle on the roadways in the area, hiking, or riding your mountain bike on the trails to burn some energy and get your adrenaline flowing during your vacation. Walk right out the door of Terlingua vacation rentals—exciting adventures at Big Bend await.

Ride for Mas o Menos

Book Terlingua vacation Houses for Presidents Day weekend, when experienced cyclists from across the country come to Terlingua to race in the annual Mas o Menos 100 mountain bike race, sponsored by Desert Sports. This four-day event is open to bike riders of all skill levels because of the multiple events they offer. Mas o Menos 100 culminates with a 100 kilometer mountain bike race through the rough terrain surrounding Terlingua.

It's Chili Times Two in Terlingua

If chili is your specialty, Big Bend Country lodging can put you in the prime location to sign up for not one, but two chili cook offs in Terlingua. On the first Saturday of November, Terlingua hosts the Chili Appreciation Society International and the Frank X. Tolbert/Wick Fowler World Chili Championships. Use the kitchen in your vacation house, and then put your chili up against the rest if you're brave enough.
