"Our group - 4 couples has been traveling together for about 15 years now. We are all in our 60s, are all experienced travelers and all professionals. We started late looking for a place to stay for this year's trip to Big Bend and got very lucky here. We wanted/needed a place that would sleep 8 in comfort Note, we also rented the guest house. Two more would have been a little crowded, but would have been doable. Price was very affordable. We needed to be close to Big Bend National Park & have room to eat and to hang out as a group. Everything was very clean and neat. The kitchen worked for us. We cooked evening and morning meals for the group with no problems. The patio had plenty of seating for our group. We did not use the grill, but it looked capable.
The night sky was incredible (this is one of the darkest places in North America for observing the night sky). Views of meteors & The Milky Way were fantastic. Lots of cacti on the hillsides all around the property.
The manager answered all inquiries in a timely and pleasant manner - Thank you.
We plan on doing this VRBO again. Loved it."

"We loved the house and the beautiful views. We loved how close it was to Big Bend National Park. There was 7 of us in the house and we had plenty of space. The only downside was that the hot water in the shower stopped working on the 2nd day in the bedroom across from the kitchen, but we used the other bathroom shower and it had plenty of hot water. We will definately try to come back to Terlingua again and we would stay at Terlingua house."

"Tidy cabin, spacious enough for 4 adults. The self-sufficiency of the place is reliable and interesting.
The geological view is astonishing, and the sky at night is breath taking.
I will definitely come back!"

Quiet getaway with nothing but stars and amazing v
"The Retreat is an amazing piece of property. We have 7 year old twins and wanted a quiet get away for just the 2 of us close to Big Bend National Park. The Retreat has amazing 360 degree views, a hillside of wildflowers and other desert plants, and the nearest house is probably a quarter of a mile away. The cabin is very comfortable and has everything you need. The porches have very comfortable furniture and great views for watching the stars, sunrise, and sunset. Don't be imtimidated by the fact that it is off the grid. We didn't have any problems at all. Take advantage of the outdoor shower. The Retreat is away from civilization so bring what you need to make your meals In terms of food. There are plenty of pots, pans, dishes and utencils. We will definitely be back."
