  • Nice House and Nice Location (Beware the 4th bedroom/bunkroom)

"We rented this home for two familes (8 persons) in the Summer of 2012. The property is located about one block from the beach. It is a short 5 minute walk, depending on how much stuff you are carrying. The beach itself is very easily accessible, you almost feel like you are on a private beach. Even on weekends, we never felt crowded. You are a short 7 minute drive from the main drag in Galveston. We liked our quiteness and seclusion and we liked how quickly we could be amongst the sites/sounds/crowds of Galveston. The house was very clean, had cable tv, surround sound, and WiFi (which was a plus in our opinion). There is a large two story deck at the front of the house which is convenient for drying beach things. During our stay it was too hot and too many mosquitos to spend time out there. There is a small closet of beach toys downstairs which is nice - but we had brought our own. The AC worked great (very important). The property management company made check in and check out very easy. There were a few negatives to the property. The description of the property clearly states one of the bedrooms is on the ground level and is not connected to the rest of the house. What is not clearly stated is the unconnected bedroom is the double bunkroom. We had two families with a total of four (young) children ages 5 to 10 - and the bunkroom was important to us. This caused us a problem because the two adult couples took the king beds, one set of children got a bedroom and the other set of children got a (very uncomfortable) pull out sleeper/sofa. This restricted our use of the living area after the kid's 9pm bed time and it resulted in some tired and cranky children. If we had known the bunkroom was unconnected to the rest of the house, we would have selected another property. With the size of the bunk beds, we do not see how it is of any use for older children or adults - so why have them in the unconnected room? Young teens may be able to use this room if the parents are okay with them being physically separated (by level and entrance). A few other negatives - We did not like the mandatory travel insurance, seemed more like a disguised "fee." The mattresses on the property were not the most comfortable and the pillows were flat (bring your own pillows). The carpet and appliances were a little dated and showed some wear, but since it was a rental house, this did not bother our group. Overall - this was a nice house and we were very pleased."

  • Great Family Friendly Getaway!!!

"My boys and I had a great time over Spring Break! Even though the weather didn't cooperate, we explored the island during the day. Then, we came back to the beachhouse at night for easy dinners with the kids. And the house was big enough to have some family friends come over for dinner. We will definitely be back again and again!!!"
