"When I was looking for places to stay in Galveston with my family, I read through almost every review I can find. I think that reviews are an excellent way to really explain exactly what you are getting in a VR. So i will do my best to give whoever reads this some good information. First and foremost, The homeowner is great! She responded to every email and phone call before we booked, before we arrived, and through the entire time we were there. Information was relayed timely and accurately. The house. This place is great. Lots of room. We had 5 adults and 5 kids during our stay and never felt cramped. The upstairs bedroom is extremely nice and roomy. The bunk bed room has tons of room. There are also two other bedrooms, one next to the bunk bed room and the other is secluded up front away from the other rooms for some privacy. Nice living room, nice kitchen, and dining area. Outside there is a TON of outdoor decking to enjoy. Very nice during the evenings if there is a breeze. Bring your bug spray for the mosquitoes if there is no breeze. Located on the canal so you can fish, paddleboat, kids swimming, floating around, and just relaxing. If you are bringing a boat, there are two boat lifts at the place to store your boat overnight. The marina is nearby to launch, gas, ice, etc.. Gas is a little pricey, but if you own a boat and use marina gas you should be used to the extra $1 added to the price of a gallon of gas. The house is located on a main canal at the end so boat traffic is very minimal, even on the weekends. Its a nice boat cruise to the bay from the house. The beach. We rented a golf cart while we were there for a few of us to ride to the beach. Others walked to the beach without any problem. The beach is nice, a little seaweed this year, but the water was nice and clear. Groceries. This place is located on the west side of the island, about a 20 minute drive to Walmart in downtown Galveston for major shopping. There is also a smaller market about 5 minutes away that has most things you will need. In a pinch, there is a small corner store about 100 yards from the house, but bring your pocket book it is very overpriced. Overall, a great place. Pictures are very accurate and are exactly what the place looks like. Not what is looked like 20 years ago like some ads post. Hopefully this helps, i would write more but running out of allowed characters to use :)"Guest: Cajun Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 5, 2014View listing
"First, I want to say Judy is a very nice lady who answered my bazillian questions before our trip! We had 5 adults and 3 kids in the home and found it was more than enough space for all of us. I would recommend renting a golf cart to go to/from the beach as we ended up loading into our personal vehicle to do this and needless to say with 3 kiddos it got VERY sandy! The home is beautifully decorated, does need a little remodeling in the form of painting, but everything else was clean, tidy, and ready for our use upon arrival. We absolutely loved our stay here and most certainly would return to this specific beach house. Thanks again Judy! God Bless!"Guest: Jaimie H. "This place was great! House had plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 kids. We enjoyed how close the house was to the beach and loved the area below the house to hang out in the shade. The upstairs deck was a hit during our stay because we could sit out and see the beach clearly. There were a few things that could have been repaired / upgraded but that would be the same with most rentals in Galveston. The beach in this area was not crowded and fairly clean. They did have equipment cleaning the seaweed off the beach, that was a plus! Highly recommended, will use them again next time."Guest: Austin T.
