  • Family of 5, with 3 kids 5 and under

"Amazing! We enjoyed being on the seawall without being in the middle of traffic, Walmart next door was amazing for little unexpected kiddo needs. Our kids loved the pool and we loved that there was an adult pool and a separate kids pool so we felt like the kids could play without being a distraction. The ferry to cross to other beaches was driveable and we enjoyed doing that in the mornings and the pool with one parent while the other one stayed in the condo with the sleeping baby. We will definitely visit again - wonderful experience!! I also HIGHLY recommend checking out the Galveston Children's Museum."

  • Great ocean view and comfortable condo!

"We stayed for a little over a week and had a very relaxing time. The view was a fantastic treat for us landlocked visitors. The condo was as pictured except the new toaster oven is bigger and better. The yellow bathroom is the correct view. There was plenty of kitchen/cleaning supplies and tons of beach toys, games, etc. Spices and condiments were a nice little extra. The condo was a good fit for 1 to 4 people, but might be a little tight for 6. And yes, the owner left a ton of towels! Another great feature was all the hooks to hang stuff - the ones in the bath were great for the wet swimwear. (We used the pools and hot tubs a lot.) Futons were super comfy and led to good, if unintentional, naptimes. We really appreciated the no deposit/no cleaning fee policy and tried to leave the unit better than when we arrived. Saving $75 or $100 allowed us to do a couple more fun things while on vacation. We found it pleasant to eat on the balcony - but look out for the birds - seems some people don't follow the "no feeding" rule and they come around looking for handouts. It was a lot of fun though to be able to see the people walking on the seawall, the fishing pier, and boats in the distance! The complex itself was being maintained well for being an older building. All the staff were polite and friendly. We loved the hot tubs and the quieter waterfall pool, but saw lots of kiddos/families enjoying the "mushroom" pool. As the owner mentioned to us, the stairs were easier to use than the elevator since they are right next to the unit. The laundry room had plenty of coin-op washer/dryers to use as needed. It was super quiet on the weekdays and the busier weekend didn't bother us any. Being from a big city the street noise wasn't a problem to us - we couldn't here it inside anyway. (We just had to watch the crazy drivers when leaving the front gates - it seems island stoplights are optional and everyone speeds in TX!) Downfall of older complex was lack of extra electrical plugins -owner has added powerstrips to try and help. The high speed Wi-Fi was only so-so. We barely watched TV, but it worked fine and there were lots of sports channels available. BEWARE: Galveston beaches are not the greatest and this year the seaweed is terrible. Expect to have some funky smells every once in a while. Other than that, we had tons of fun in Galveston for very little money and it is a nice place to visit. Try Shrimp'nStuff on 39th and Mario's on 61st for casual eats."

  • What We Needed and Expected

"Owner was accessible by phone. Check in was a breeze. Covered parking. No smell of pet, smoke, or mildew. Room was very clean and near elevator. Pools are clean and gated. Walk is 50 yards from the beach. Clean bunk beds if you have kids. Good size bed in room. TV in bedroom and main room with DVD in main. Groceries right next door. View of ocean. Stocked with plates, glasses, towels (clean), soap, shampoo. Small fridge but big enough for the three of us. Price for peak season is excellent (unless you are looking for stocked beach towels and chairs, valet, room service, etc...). Very good for peak season. Will be going back. Much thanks to the owners!"

  • Great spot close to the beach

"My husband and I rented this unit to vacation with our grandchildren. The location is great, very close to stores and restaurants. The unit was the perfect size and the view from the balcony is wonderful. Lots of dishes and cooking supplies (the only thing it did lack was bedding for the hide a bed couch). Nice to have a dishwasher. The owner is very pleasant to work with. Very comfortable. We will be back for sure. Thanks for sharing you little piece of heaven with us."

The Galveston Island Ferry is another way to spend a few hours exploring the island; since it's free, it's an activity that should make it to the top of your list. Take the ferry across Galveston bay to Bolivar Peninsula and spend the day at Crystal Beach.

More to do

Another interesting way to explore Galveston it to take a walking tour of the many historical buildings that decorate the island. Take a stroll through Historic Strand District, which offers the Pier 21 Theater, Galveston Island Railroad Museum, and the Ocean Star Offshore Energy Center and Museum. You can also mosey on over to Postoffice Street for an eclectic blend of art galleries, antique shops and attractive eateries.
