  • Steps away from the pool and beach

"My wife, eight-year-old son and I had a great stay at Mary's Beachfront Condo . . . I'd highly recommend it to friends and family. While the Mayan Princess has several floors, our unit was at ground level and was probably about 20 feet from one of three pools. You could also easily access the beach over the boardwalk--a two-minute walk from the coach to the ocean makes for a very relaxing weekend. The Mayan Princess is showing its ages in spots. For example, what was once a swim-up bar is now in disrepair. But the staff was friendly and attentive and the unit itself is well cared for and comfortable. The full kitchen was great and well stocked with utensils, knives and paper towels. (I'm always surprised when rental units don't have basics like cutting boards). And our son loved the bunk beds with the twin doors that slid closed, giving him his our little hideaway. All in all, a great place to stay to enjoy the Texas coast."

  • Awesome time!

"Our family of 16 had a blast here a couple of weeks ago! We had kids and adults ranging in age from 2-60. Several of them had never seen the beach or ocean before. We walked to the beach almost every day and, even though the weather was not great, we LOVED every minute of it! The house was plenty big for 4 families, two cars and an RV. Looked exactly like the photos. This was a way more practical and affordable option than a hotel for us! We found ourselved looking at property and job opportunities, fantasizing about moving here! Phyllis was easy to work with and everything about the house was great! We had to be dragged away kicking and screaming. We are already planning our next trip!"

  • Three generations under one roof!

"I rented this unit for ourselves, our children and their spouses and three small grandchildren. I choose it because it had king and queen size beds and bunk beds in two of the bedrooms so kids could sleep with parents. We had some issues during our stay - the DVD player wouldn't work and the garbage disposal leaked water etc but in all cases the owner and / or the office were super quick to take care of the problem so our vacation was not interrupted. What more can you ask? I also was happy to see that island retreat restricted entrance to residents by using security personnel so we did not have anyone entering the complex to park and gain entrance to the beach. As a result I think this beach was the least crowded. Also I did not see vehicles driving on the beach they stayed on the beach road which I felt made it safer for my toddlers. The condo itself was well stocked with kitchenware, towels, soap etc. we brought way more supplies than we needed. The furnishings were also nice but also kid friendly. Island retreat is an older complex but it seems taken care of and the location is great. My grandchildren loved their vacation and I have already booked for next year. This time we are going to try this same owner's penthouse condo to give us a little more space.. We are looking forward to it. Thanks for a great vacation ."

  • Convenient and affordable

"There is ample bed space to sleep 10 (though we didn't have that many) + a large comfy sectional for people to lounge in the living room. Great view. Super quick and easy access to the beach over two well-kept boardwalks. Nice staff in office + the properties monitors the parking entrance so that only residents are allowed in and there is therefore always room to park. Would definitely stay again."

Commons at Seashell Travel Tips

The Commons at Seashell Lodging: There Are Many Beaches

Everything's bigger in Texas, and that includes your vacation fun, so head for Port Aransas on Mustang Island and stay at the Commons at Seashell lodging! With the Commons at Seashell condos, as you reflect on (and enjoy) all the space and privacy you could desire, you'll soon find yourself thinking about permanent residence. In the meantime, you'll want to check out the sights and sounds of the Gulf, and there are plenty to choose from just outside your door.

Draw a Line in the Sand, Paint a Castle on the Canvas

The contemplation of fine art provides welcome respite from the frantic pace of modern life, so make sure one of your first and frequent stops is the Art Center for the Islands. A temple to the visual arts, the Center features works by local artists from Mustang Island to Houston. It's a perfect place to not only unwind and work your art history degree, but also to pick up a memento of the trip. Maybe you can hang it up, in the meantime, in the Commons at Seashell lodging of your choice.

Histrionics: Having Little to Do with History

When you're in the mood for a different kind of art, say the performing variety, it's just a hop, skip and a jump from the Commons at Seashell condos to the Port Aransas Community Theatre. Offering a variety of family-friendly fare at affordable prices, and featuring local talent, the theater is guaranteed to make for a fun night out for everyone. Stop off at Barnacle Bill's Pierhouse & Grill beforehand for the supplies to catch a fish and catch dinner, possibly at the same time! Port Aransas vacation rentals are a perfect way to make your stay in Texas a memorable experience.
