  • Nice, clean place! Can't wait to return!

"We had two families stay in this unit, with 4 adults and 3 kids. The condo was very well cared for and clean. Although we brought all of our necessities (foil, salt, pepper, spices, etc.), the condo was stocked with all of that already. Our two families were comfortable without being in the way of each other. I left a birthday gift in the condo and the owner, Chuck, contacted me to return the gift. I should have written this review sooner, but since we just booked to stay there again this year, I thought it would be better late than never for the review! Thank you, Chuck, for sharing your place with us and keeping it nice and clean! That is important to us, and we are definitely heading back there this year (already booked)! I recommend this property to anyone who wants a comfortable clean place, close to town and the beach."

  • The unexpected.

"I didn't really know what to expect. This was my first time visiting Port A. Umm, wow! The beaches are unbelievable. I love the fact that there are beach markers all up and down the beach, along with well maintained portlets and trash receptacles. I thought I was going to miss being right on the beach but I could hear the surf at night and the beach was just a quick walk through a most amazing little rental community. It couldn't have been more than a block away and the houses I passed reminded me of brightly colored Easter eggs, it just made you happy. The condo is exceptional. The coded door entry is BRILLIANT! No keeping up with a key, yay. Walls looked freshly painted, tile floors clean, furniture looked brand new and the bed was fantastic. I would walk 8 miles a day on the beach, at night I would go to bed thinking, I feel like I'm 83 and I'm not going to be able to move tomorrow. I think the bed had magical powers because I was right as rain the next day and ready for my walk. I thought that I would have a lot of solitary time. NOT SO. If you get in touch with the community centers, you will have something to do every day & night. I took painting classes, I went to art gallery showings, I went to a play (walking distance from the condo) I participated in the Mardi Gras parade, I went to the stew cook-off at the Veterans building. Oh and you must check out The Ark. They rehab turtles and pelicans. They also host a number of educational experiences in their remarkable center. I got to see a movie and hear a speaker talk about the not so kind side of the bottled water industry. There is tons of fishing to be done on the beach or down by the bay. (whiting, red fish and drum fish) I drove from Atlanta to Port A, trust me when I say, I did not want to get into my car for quite some time. It was wonderful to find out, I could walk to several restaurants and everything is a bicycle ride away. Also.. crazy off the chain things to check out, Chicken Bingo and the Sand belt races at the Gaff (I'm certain you will run into Pirate Scott) and check out Winston's Island Candy shop (it's insane) and a cute little quirky shop called Gratitude (the owner sneaked a surprise in my purchase) and you MUST go down when the shrimp boat comes in to get fresh shrimp. It's OMG good. It's the difference of a store bought tomato vs a homegrown tomato. Gosh there is so much to do, it's crazy. The condo is wonderful, high ceilings, super quiet, very clean, big bathrooms. <3"
