  • Jamaica Beach Home

"The was the perfect place for some family getaway time with grandparents, parents and kids. Their home was very welcoming and had everything you could possibly need. So much better than staying at a hotel. The weather worked out great, but if it had not they had plenty of toys, games etc to keep everyone entertained. They also were happy to give us plenty of local information and answered all questions we had. Looking forward to our next visit there. I can happily recommend!"

  • Beautiful home, beautiful views, relaxing vacation

"We would highly recommend this house to anyone that is looking for a quiet escape by the sea. This house has completely unrestricted view of the gulf with beautiful sunrises. The many windows in the house allows you to take advantage of the view whether you are inside or out. We enjoyed leaving our windows open at night to hear the surf against the beach. We had originally booked a house in Florida and were so excited to be heading for those beautiful Florida beaches. Imagine our disappointment when we found out the Florida house had not only been double booked but we couldn't find anything else available for a family our size. A bit hesitant, we booked this house on the other side of the gulf hoping that it would meet what we were looking for. Amazingly, not only did it meet what we were looking for, but it exceeded what we had experienced before in Florida. The sand is not the fine, white, grainy sand that you can find in FL, but the privacy of the beach and playful surf was SO perfect for us! I read on one of the reviews about the seaweed, but there was virtually no seaweed at all while we were there (perhaps the time of year). The beach was gradual and yet the waves were active enough that my kids had tons of fun with the swim boards in the water. For most of the week, we had the beach entirely to ourselves. We also enjoyed fishing right from the beach in front of the house and caught quite a few fish. We were also amazed at the friendliness of the locals. The bait shop owner, Bob, at the Bright Light was very friendly and helpful with fishing advice. He told us about a spot on the bay side where we could catch some big fish...and we did!:) Other fisherman were also very friendly and had little tidbits of advice for us amateurs. This was our family's first attempt to fish, and it was a successful one! The only downside we found was that we Illinoisans wanted to be outside on the beach or on the deck 24/7, and our white northern skin was not conditioned for the sun....thus we had a couple nights with ice packs and cold rags on our sunburns despite the sunscreen we had applied. The owners were very friendly and helpful and always responded quickly to any questions we had. Tina was a pleasure to work with. All in all, we had a wonderful week. Would highly recommend this to others looking for a quiet place to enjoy the sea and relax!"
