  • Family Spring Break

"What a great property! My family of 6 (4 boys ages: 15, 13, 8, and 5) often goes on trip with another family of 6 (4 girls ages: 16, 8, 6 and 4) so we look for spacious houses when we rent. This house was perfect! Both families allowed our oldest children to invite a friend to come along with us and had more than enough room. 3 other families from Iowa traveled down and stayed at other properties, but since our house was the biggest our place was the main hangout. The pool was fantastic. Large enough for both families to be in at the same time and it is heated. We were nervous about coming to SPI with young children on spring break. The house is located on the northern half of the island so we were not right in the middle of all the college/high school party scene, but close enough to walk down the beach if we so desired. There are several shops and restaurants within walking distance. The beach is just down the block and very easy to access. We will be back!"

  • Awesome House

"We stayed at the Fish House over the Thanksgiving holiday. Unlike other homes along Galveston Island, this one was unique in that it has great views of the bay and the ocean. The bay views are wonderful in the evening during the sunset. We took advantage of perfect weather and the large gas grill for burgers and beers one night while enjoying the sunset on the back deck. The house was spacious. One of the unique features is that there are two separate living areas with TVs. This is ideal for football watching and/or getting the kids their own area to watch movies or dvds. All three bathrooms are large, all four bedrooms have plenty of space, the beds are comfortable, and the decor is updated and nice. There is a large brand new pier that has been built adjacent to the house that reaches out for several hundred yards into the bay, which would be great for launching out and kayaking, fishing, or crabbing. Another interesting community feature is that this home sits among only 8 or 9 other large beach homes, and is flanked by empty highway. We had excellent weather during our trip, yet the beach was quite secluded due to the lack of homes in the immediate area. The owners were very easy to deal with, and responsive to emails and texts during our stay. Our group had kids and a small dog and we found the house fit all of our needs perfectly. The only negative thing I could say was that there is no wifi at the house, but the 3G signal was fine. My wife and I both agreed after our stay that Surfside has a lot of advantages over Galveston Island, including the fact that it was a shorter drive for us in Houston and the beaches were cleaner and seaweed free. We highly recommend this place for everyone."

  • Beautiful home - good location; BUT wifi is horrible.

"This is a great multi-family house. There is a separate apartment on the first floor which is great for a couple/small family who wants privacy. Upstairs in the main quarters are five other bedrooms and baths - so no one has to fight for a bed or bathroom time! The house is literally a hundred steps from the wooden walkway to the beach - it's beautiful, and is next door to the community pool (which is very cold, not heated). The sand on the beach is amazing - very fine and very packed which is great for running on the beach or building sand castles. The one MAJOR disadvantage of this house is the very unreliable wifi - completely out most of the time despite our efforts to reset it/unplug it. We ended up relying on a neighbor's weak signal and our own MiFi. Also, the house does not have ANY shampoo, salt, spices, oil, etc. No food stuffs of any kind so be prepared to bring or buy (fortunately the IGA is well stocked and about a mile away)"

  • September 2014 Rental

"Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our 7 night stay very much. We did notice that all the outside lights with the exception of the one over the back entrance were burned out making it very dark and unsafe when coming and going after dark. Manager responded on 10/18/2014: We our so glad you enjoyed your stay.. All Outside flood lights have been replace and we thank you for bringing it to our look forward to your next visit to Port Aransas"
