  • Austin Getaway

"I stayed at downtown view during the middle is September for a long weekend getaway. Overall I recommend this property. The emails and phone calls I had setting up the rental were easy. Carrie and Heather were very attentive and nice to work with. The location was exactly what I wanted. It is a short drive to pretty much everything - Soho, Bartlett Springs, downtown, airport... But close enough! It was secluded, which is what I wanted. The view of the Austin Skyline was amazing. I would sit out on the porch or balcony every morning and evening (when it wasn't raining) to enjoy the quiet and the view. The hot tub was nice, perfect for sitting in when it was raining outside (it isn't covered overhead, but still nice). The memory foam bed was comfortable. I didn't use the other bedrooms, or loft. The master bath was nice. The shower is unique, a little bigger than a normal shower area, and very nice. The kitchen was easy to cook in. The couches were comfortable. Internet was easy to get on. I watched TV but didn't watch any DVDs. The remotes were a little tricky to figure out at first. The decor is very eclectic - which is what Austin is all about! The neighbors cat(s) do hang around the property, but I absolutely loved this. One of them did not come close, but the other was very loving and it was nice to have a companion. I think they would stay afar if you didn't encourage them, just in case you have allergies or don't like cats. It is a house out close to nature, so you have to expect bugs. As long as you kept the porch lights off, it wasn't too bothersome. I also heard frogs or toads throughout the day, but didn't go searching for them. There is a big grocery store a block away (via car). I cooked my own breakfast, but enjoyed the wondeful restaurants Austin offers for other meals. This was a nice experience, far enough away for peace and quiet, yet close enough to join the hustle and bustle of the city easily."

  • Great place for socializing with old friends and exploring Austin

"Good value and great location. Very close to food trucks and a short skip to the South Congress area. A pleasant walk of a little over a mile to downtown and Zilker Park. We reserved both the house and the apartment for 9 male friends (in our mid-40's) during ACL. We enjoyed walking to most locations but there was plenty of parking for a couple of rental cars and cabs were reasonably priced when sharing with others. Kitchen and living room provided a great place for the full group to socialize and the porches were a pleasant place to relax with smaller groups. Very few places (if any?) in the area would sleep this many folks this comfortably. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Owner was very friendly, easy going and responsive to questions. Rental is simple but furnished with everything we needed. We cooked a couple of meals and made lunches in the kitchen. Not a luxury unit (and not trying to be) but it would be hard to find a better accommodation for a modestly sized group (5 beds in house, 2 in apartment) who want a comfortable launching pad from which to explore Austin. Having a single place for our entire group of old friends to reunite made the trip much more memorable than being scattered around town or in different hotel rooms. Thanks!"

  • Lovely, comfortable, good vibes!

"I have my own house rental in Austin but found ourselves in need of a place for a few weeks at the tail end of a house remodel. Sandy offered a wonderful place for our family. Highly recommend! The house is one of those fantastic old original Austin homes, lovingly cared for and still having character. When I walked in and saw posters from a KGSR concert 20 years ago I knew the owners were the real deal. The location is fantastic being close to South Congress and downtown. We enjoyed walking down to HomeSlice and the many awesome local places on South Congress. The King bed in the master is extremely comfortable and the sheets were great. The kitchen has been remodeled and it has a very nice flow to it. The two other bedrooms are a nice size. We enjoyed hanging out in the den/TV room. Sandy was incredibly accommodating. Thank you!"

  • Comfortable get-together.

"We were in Austin for our son's wedding. This was perfect for our family. The house was very comfortable. It was close to places to eat and well stocked for cooking. We would definitely stay here again."
