  • You'll love La Casa!

"Our group of four women used La Casa as our home base during our trip to Austin. We've been friends since high school (a good two decades-plus ago) and we could have handled sharing beds and/or a cramped space, but with La Casa we didn't need to. The three bedrooms had four "real" beds which was nice. The couch was really comfortable, too, ideal for multiple people to lounge upon. The layout is fairly open and the kitchen was clean and equipped with everything you might need, including a coffee maker. Sheets felt great and there were plenty of towels. The two bathrooms were stocked with shampoo, soap and conditioner and some travel kits in case anyone forgot a toothbrush. There was wifi as well as speakers we could hook our music up to and there was a nice TV and lots of DVDs to use (although we never got around to that). The house is close to Lamar which is a main North/South street leading up to Downtown, but you can't tell noise-wise. You'll want to have a car to get around, but that's probably true for anywhere you'd stay in Austin. I ran every morning over to the Barton Springs Pool and the Greenbelt area. I didn't have a chance to hop on the Hike & Bike Trail to run along the river, but it's relatively close, too. There's a nice (but hilly!) six mile loop from the house, over to Barton Springs Pool and then around the Greenbelt out to Barton Hills Drive . Be sure to bring a map and/or fully charged smartphone so that you don't get too lost, though. Austin neighborhoods are not gridded at all and you'll hit many dead ends. If you do get lost, there are a lot of cute houses and cool cacti to look at. The owners of La Casa couldn't have been nicer--they provided wonderful recommendations and made us feel very welcome. We were there during an unseasonably cold weekend and Carole made sure to turn on the heat the day before we arrived so that the house was cozy when we got there. There is a great back porch that we didn't get to spend too much time on because of the cold temps. The inside of the house was a perfect space for spending drizzly afternoons between outings and sightseeing. And speaking of outings and sightseeing, La Casa is situated so that you can get up to Downtown and the Capitol easily or over to the Bouldin Creek Cafe or Magnolia Cafe or Austin Beer Garden or down to the Wheatsville Food Co-op or El Alma (all highly recommended). Thanks, Carole, for our great Austin home!"

  • Sweet Place

"Great little apartment. We were sad to leave it. Owners are super responsive to any questions. Clean, comfortable, conveniently located. We had a car, but it would be easy to get around on public transport. Close to Zilker, Barton Springs and the Broken Spoke. I would definitely stay there again."

  • Perfect Accommodation for Family of 6!

"Two parents, four teenagers, college visit weekend. This home was quite comfortable for our large crowd. A smart layout in a nice location with lots of great restaurants and activities nearby. We swam in Barton Springs and nearly had it to ourselves on a Saturday evening in March. It was lovely!"

  • Quiet On The Set!

"We were in Austin for the Austin Film Festival and this was the perfect retreat from the festival hub bub. We rented both the house and the cottage as we had a large group that was multi-generational. There was plenty of privacy for everyone and lots of different spaces to hang in. The screen porch out back was a favorite spot as the weather was glorious. The cottage was perfect for my daughter who was working throughout our visit. The dining area was a favorite meeting spot and the living room is a great conversation area. The rental process was smooth and professional and everything was as advertised. The neighborhood is sweet and the location is an easy walk to a number of good places to eat if you don't mind hoofing it up a fairly steep hill. Austin Java is at the bottom of the hill and great place for coffee and breakfast. As we arrived from the 4 corners of the country the location of the airport was important to us and I will tell you it is a breeze to get to and from the airport. Austin does have some pretty mighty traffic though if you are headed downtown. Loved this place and will rent it again. Thanks for the hospitality Austin, you are terrific."
