"This was a short family vacation of 5 days. We had 11 people (six adults & 5 kids). The house had plenty of room with 5 bedrooms and all beds were comfortable. Best of all was the location, great view on the water with plenty of room to the use the boat. We spent hours on the water and even did a little fishing from the dock. Everything we needed was already at the house. I am sure we will be back to enjoy this house once again!"Guest: Johnny & Family Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 28, 2014View listing
"In July, our family spent a week at the River Retreat in Seguin. The house is located on a very quiet bank of a small river. Because there are woods on the other side of the river and the neighbors’ houses are almost out of sight, you have the feeling of being very secluded. We were there for a week with 6 adults and 4 young grandchildren. It was nice not to have to worry about noise and the neighbors. It is a good location for a family gathering. It is not a luxurious house; it is a pleasant, unpretentious vacation home. There is an adequate kitchen with enough cooking gear and more than enough dinnerware, plates, utensils, etc…which is always one of my questions when renting… “Will I have to buy salt and pepper and more plates?” The river is shallow and muddy like all slow central Texas rivers are, but we enjoyed the canoe and playing in the water. There is a basketball goal, a grill, small kayaks, and several life jackets. It is an easy drive to all the places they list on the website and Seguin, which is 10 minutes away, and is a nice quiet town with groceries, good pizza, etc. The rental agent we talked to was helpful and accommodating."Guest: Donald N. "We had 8 people in this condo and we were very comfortable and not crowded at all. The condo was very clean and luxurious. The owners were very nice and easy to work with. Lots of activities for the kids including tennis, pool areas, basketball and wildlife. We couldn't believe how many deer we actually saw while staying at this condo. It was so relaxing too!! Thanks for an enjoyable stay!! : )"Guest: sparkleytexan Date of Stay: July 2011 Review Submitted: August 2, 2011View listing
"You can walk everywhere in town from this property. The deer come out every night. The property has a wonderful covered front porch with padded chairs. We were 2 couples and enjoyed sitting on the porch in the morning and evening. Interesting historical pictures, books and collected items on the property from their renovation. Our queen beds were extremely comfortable. We were happy to find queen beds because lots of properties have single beds or bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom. There are ceiling fans and central A/C and lots of room. Fully equipped with all supplies you might need. It is a historical property so don't expect "modern chic". Washer and dryer on back porch is a nice addition. The town is in a pretty area with deer and fireflies at night. It's sad that they are experiencing a drought right now because the rivers are dried up. We had a nice picnic down by the Medina river which is right in town and has lots of shade, ducks and picnic tables. We also drove around the countryside and through the Hill Country State Natural Park. Several quirky bars in town like the 11th Street Cowboy Bar. We went on Monday night and enjoyed guitar music/songs right at our table by Howard Hobson (and friend) - and he even brought Sloppy Joes! The owner of this property was very nice and gave us lots of information about the area. The only negatives I can think of is that we didn't find any great food and the property across the street decorates a huge yard with old metal suits of armor and other ugly stuff. The property, ower, and location itself gets a 10 from us, however!"Guest: Nanette S. Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 21, 2014View listing
