  • Loved the house!

"The house was adorable, clean and accommodate our group of 6 adults perfectly! It would easily handle a group of 4 couples well, too. I highly recommend this if you're looking for a nice place in Austin."

  • July 2014

"In July, our family spent a week at the River Retreat in Seguin. The house is located on a very quiet bank of a small river. Because there are woods on the other side of the river and the neighbors’ houses are almost out of sight, you have the feeling of being very secluded. We were there for a week with 6 adults and 4 young grandchildren. It was nice not to have to worry about noise and the neighbors. It is a good location for a family gathering. It is not a luxurious house; it is a pleasant, unpretentious vacation home. There is an adequate kitchen with enough cooking gear and more than enough dinnerware, plates, utensils, etc…which is always one of my questions when renting… “Will I have to buy salt and pepper and more plates?” The river is shallow and muddy like all slow central Texas rivers are, but we enjoyed the canoe and playing in the water. There is a basketball goal, a grill, small kayaks, and several life jackets. It is an easy drive to all the places they list on the website and Seguin, which is 10 minutes away, and is a nice quiet town with groceries, good pizza, etc. The rental agent we talked to was helpful and accommodating."

  • Great stay!

"This was our second stay and we had a great time with our adult kids and This was our second stay and we had a great time with our adult kids and grand kids. grand kids. We like this location because we have the river to ourselves. Easy access to the river, but it would be nice to have a ladder down right in front of the house. There's a bank to jump from for those interested. Nice area to sit outside and enjoy family time. The house has everything you need but food. (And bar soap) We'll be back!"

  • Love this house and sandbar! So pet friendly

"This is the best house to relax with quiet surroundings. We loved the sandbar where we all could float and swim including our dog. The house was very clean and well maintained. Everything was in working order and no need to bring anything other than our food, clothes and bath items. The best part was when the storm came through one night, the owner texted me to check and make sure we were okay. She was very responsive and nice. I highly recommend this for families, pet owners, teens, couples, boaters, swimmers, those who like to kayak and canoe. We had several games of football, volleyball and relay races in the lush, green backyard. If you are from Texas, you know this is a treat to step barefoot on green grass with no "picky's" or red ants. World Cup soccer was on in the afternoon (nice TV) and the people we met who also use the sandbar where very nice. Great, current materials for travel and events in the area of Highlands Lakes in the house. Even had a Kuerig! Thank you for providing laundry soap and bleach since we forgot it.You will love this house!!"
