"We had a wonderful time at Among the Pecans. The owners think of all sorts of little things you might forget, from bug spray and citronella candles outside to towels thoughtfully placed by the front door for wiping Fido's feet (we didn't have any dogs this time, but loved that!). There were homemade biscuits and blueberry muffins and eggs and fresh milk awaiting our breakfast the next morning, and other great details like towels by the back door for the hot tub, wine openers for all the wine you buy in Fredericksburg, matches by the grill for lighting those candles, robes in each room, games stashed away by the fireplace, and more. It is a fully equipped house with a washer/dryer, oven, microwave, full-sized fridge, and basically everything you'd need to be comfortable and prepare meals there if you were so inclined. The spa tubs in each room were a surprise bonus--I thought perhaps there was just one in the largest room, but there are actually three and all are en-suite bathrooms, which is really nice for a multiple guest setup. The largest bedroom also had a kitchenette attached; in case one in your party is an early riser, they can comfortably make themselves some coffee and a snack without waking anyone else who may be sleeping in the living room on the couch.
All this was impressive, but I will say that the property needs a tiny bit more upkeep. There were wasps/mud daubbers all over the covered back porch and in the hot tub rooms, a scorpion in the laundry room, and the back door will not stay shut unless you lock it, which is an issue if you're going to hang out in the back--can't exactly lock it from the outside and lock yourself out of the house. We ended up propping a book against it to keep it closed while we were outside. Another issue is that the large hot tub kept overheating and would not come on--but honestly it was so hot it would have been uncomfortable anyway. We just took turns in the smaller (two or three person) hot tub, but it would have been nice if we could have all hung out together. We didn't call it in as a maintenance issue because we didn't find out until 10 p.m. that first night and we were gone all day the next day. Another bedroom's door wouldn't stay shut, either, which can be annoying when you're trying to sleep in or whatever.
Another thing, and this is really just more of an FYI than a complaint, is that this place is in a fairly remote location. It's nearly to the little town of Stonewall, which is in between J"
