  • Wonderful get away

"My wife and I rented this home to get away for the weekend. It was exactly what we needed. The easy access to the river was great and our dogs loved it. Getting to see all the wildlife that frequents the property (mostly birds and deer) was a real treat. Also if you stay make sure to take the trip down to Lost Maples state park and Utopia, TX. The little cafe there is worth the drive. A word of warning: you will not have cell phone coverage at the house and the internet is essentially non-functional (old DSL or dialup that makes loading anything including maps/email impossible). This was fine for us as we both wanted to unplug, but definitely wouldn't support working remotely. Make sure to pack an atlas/Texas map if you head out to Lost Maples or around the Hill Country as cell phone coverage is spotty at best. They do have a DVD player and plenty of table space for puzzles/board games. I'd highly recommend this for the family that wants to get away and spend time together instead of on devices. Make sure to pick up food for your stay while passing through Kerrville or before you leave because there is only one store in Hunt and otherwise it's a good 20-30min drive into town to pick up anything."

  • Fantastic!

"Our group of 4 adults and 4 children (aged 8 to 12) spent a wonderful four days at this lovely house. The house was comfortable and well equipped indoors and out with an amazing range of outdoor places to sit, chat, watch the sky; but the real star, for us, was the river front area just a short walk down the path. We all loved exploring in the kayaks; and the river was so safe we could allow the kids real freedom to roam, which they embraced. The rope swing was in constant use, the horseshoes were challenging and the barbecue area was alight with fireflies in the evening. Lovely river scenery, wildflowers, birds, deer, hummingbirds, even a family of armadillos in the garden .. these Scots fell in love with Hill Country! Although the Hunt store is very small (and characterful) there are more places to shop within a 20 minute drive, if you find (as we did) that you need to top up groceries / buy river shoes / indulge in a fancy coffee or fast food. We were all so reluctant to leave but felt we'd had a fantastic holiday. Thank you, Michelle!"

  • Don't make me leave!

"We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. We were guests for a wedding party and were SO surprised how they had thought of everything. From shampoo and soap in the showers to kayaks in the pond and everything in between. We have a baby and there was a refrigerator near by and kitchen facilities and so many great outdoor spaces to explore and enjoy. We loved the fire pit and the game-room and trampoline were over the top amenities you just don't get elsewhere, let alone on a ranch! Thank you so much for a great weekend and wonderful experience for our family!"

  • Great Place, Ideal river location

"This is a place where family memories are made. We stayed 2 days on an unseasonably cool weekend and consequently only used the river one afternoon, but loved our stay. The river location is supreme – deep enough to swim and very clean and clear, but 100 yards down stream below the dam is a classic Texas shallow limestone babbling stream. The grounds are beautiful, dotted with pecans and walnut trees and frequented by herds of axis deer and fireflies which my kids spent hours gathering. The cabin is cozy and welcoming. It is small and not glamorous but clean, comfortable and very well organized. It fits the serene setting perfectly. The owner was very accommodating and provided thorough information. Would definitely go back, and plan to."
