  • Pristine charming house in West Austin - 10 minute walk to downtown

"We rented this house for the Austin City Limits music festival, and we were continually delighted all weekend! The house was super neat, and loaded with amenities like WIFI, a Mac computer, and water fountains inside the house and outside in front and in back. The floors are mostly wood, and the house was well stocked with games and good books to read. If you like TV, there is a big beautiful flat screen, but its located in one of the bedrooms, making the bed the only furniture to use when watching. Overall, the house was spacious, clean, well maintained, with nice furniture and kitchen utensils. (One Caveat: my housemate is tall and kept bumping his head on the pans hanging above the sink. If you are tall, just move the big frying pan to the other side of the hanger.) Our walk to ACL was a nice 20 minute walk. The neighborhood is full with coffee shops, restaurants, galleries, a few cool bars, and a Whole Foods. The main music area downtown is only 5 or 6 blocks away, a very easy walk. And the owners are friendly and responsive. When the AC stopped working on our 2nd night there, I e-mailed the owners and they had it fixed within a few hours. We rented a car to drive to Austin and to have to drive around during the weekend. This house is a few blocks away from Route 1, making it easy to get anywhere outside of town in a matter of minutes. Get a pass for street parking if you rent a car while in Austin. The local police are known to ticket cars unless they have parking passes inside the windshield. We liked the Sweetish Cafe, which was two blocks away. They had good coffee, great sandwiches, and awesome pastries! If you like country/folk/americana music, stop by the Mean Eyed Cat. It is a dive bar, but loaded with character. It was about 4 blocks away, west on 5th street. We stopped there on our way back from ACL on Friday night, and the band was terrific! In summary, this house was neat as a pin, loaded with charm, and located in a sweet spot in a neighborhood in West Austin. I would recommend this house in a hearbeat to anyone who plans to visit Austin for several days and wants to walk to and from downtown, or to Zilker Park for ACL. This house is a gem."

  • Peaceful Ranch

"We stayed at this marvelous peace of heaven for 6 days and just hated to leave. The extra special treats are just an added bonus to this ranch house. The photos do not do this place justice. The outside garden area is so quiet and peaceful. Ms. Linda will put the dogs up if needed, but trust me, they are extra friendly and we just loved them! Grab some wine from the local winery and enjoy this home. We very much needed a break from reality and the ranch offered us just that. The home is centrally located as described. We hope to visit again!"

  • Perfect Accommodation for Family of 6!

"Two parents, four teenagers, college visit weekend. This home was quite comfortable for our large crowd. A smart layout in a nice location with lots of great restaurants and activities nearby. We swam in Barton Springs and nearly had it to ourselves on a Saturday evening in March. It was lovely!"

Inks Lake is part of the seven lakes that make up the Highland Lakes chain in the Texas hill country. Surrounded by granite hills, Inks Lake is adjacent to the Colorado River and is the centerpiece of Inks Lake State Park. Staying at Inks Lake vacation houses puts you close to the 1,200 acres of recreational facilities at Inks Lake State Park, so you can get outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Outdoor Activities at Inks Lake

Tour guides at Inks Lake are available to help you find the outdoor activities that are best for your family during your Texas hill country vacation. Nature walks, fish seining, geology hikes, lakeshore ecology, the Devil's Waterhole Canoe Tour, and Junior Ranger programs are all available for visitors to participate in at Inks Lake State Park. Staying in Texas Hill Country lodging means you can sign up for multiple events because you're close to the park and don't have to fight the tourist crowds to get there.

Visit Area Attractions in Texas Hill Country

Longhorn Caverns open up and invite visitors in to look around the caves and caverns peeking out of the ground in Texas hill country. These caverns allow you to see what goes on underneath the surface of the Earth through guided tours, so you see the best formations. Also, take time to check out the Vanishing Texas River Cruise by Canyon of the Eagles. As the waters in the river drop due to drought, see the old town of Bluffton, previously covered by water, in addition to all the wildlife and scenery Texas hill country is known for. These cruises sell out quickly, so you may want to book your reservation before you arrive at Inks Lake.
