  • Nice solitude

"Whether you are in Austin for a festival or for a more laid back experience, this is a great place to stay. Close proximity to the joys of South Congress and easy access to I-35, but very quiet and relaxing. Lots of space and a great kitchen, too. Considering it is a basement apartment, the owners are nice and quiet, too."

  • Girl's Weekend

"We just had our girl's weekend we had the best time! The pictures are spot on, everything worked, it was extremely well kept, everything was clean and spotless. The kitty was a great host. We never left Center Point, very small town, with great food, and friendly people. Saturday night there was a band from Austin playing they were great, dinner was excellent, we would do it again. This is a great place for families."

  • Mountain Breeze

"Our stay at Mountain Breeze was very relaxing and enjoyable. We had a great time roaming the property, swimming, playing washers, and soaking up the sun in the cool breeze. The owners are very friendly and accommodating and though in close proximity, gave us our privacy and were not intrusive at all. The property is perfectly located just north of New Braunfels and only 20 min. from Wimberly and the incredible ziplines! Our only complaint is that the nearby lake beaches, except right next to the dam, were closed for the season. We will definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises."

  • Loved this house!!

"Someday I'd like to live in a cottage like this one! It's is adorable, and very comfortable. I admit I'm a simple person who likes simple comforts, and this was a perfect place for me. Tracie has added some fun details, and seemed to think of everything my son and I could possibly need for a weekend in Austin. The keyless entry was great (one less key to lose!) The bed was super comfortable. The shower was very nice! The window a/c (especially the one in the bedroom) worked very well (and it got a work-out during a holiday weekend of high temperatures!) I cooked most of our meals, and really had everything I could need in the kitchen. An article left on the coffee table told me about a bookstore I really enjoyed. And Tracie gave me some great tips on navigating by bike in the city. I pitched horseshoes (discovered I'm not very good at it though!), road one of the bikes that came with the rental to the Congress Avenue Bridge to see the bats emerge (and rode home in the dark! Yikes! But a fun adventure!), enjoyed visiting with the chickens and the cats in the lovely backyard, and loved reading and relaxing on the front porch. I brought my son to Austin from Cleveland, OH to attend the Rooster Teeth Expo Gaming Convention. The convention was a bit of a disappointment for my son (TOO MANY people), but Tracie's cottage saved the trip. We really enjoyed it. Thanks!!"

Inks Lake Travel Tips

Relax at Inks Lake Vacation Rentals

Inks Lake is part of the seven lakes that make up the Highland Lakes chain in the Texas hill country. Surrounded by granite hills, Inks Lake is adjacent to the Colorado River and is the centerpiece of Inks Lake State Park. Staying at Inks Lake vacation houses puts you close to the 1,200 acres of recreational facilities at Inks Lake State Park, so you can get outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Outdoor Activities at Inks Lake

Tour guides at Inks Lake are available to help you find the outdoor activities that are best for your family during your Texas hill country vacation. Nature walks, fish seining, geology hikes, lakeshore ecology, the Devil's Waterhole Canoe Tour, and Junior Ranger programs are all available for visitors to participate in at Inks Lake State Park. Staying in Texas Hill Country lodging means you can sign up for multiple events because you're close to the park and don't have to fight the tourist crowds to get there.

Visit Area Attractions in Texas Hill Country

Longhorn Caverns open up and invite visitors in to look around the caves and caverns peeking out of the ground in Texas hill country. These caverns allow you to see what goes on underneath the surface of the Earth through guided tours, so you see the best formations. Also, take time to check out the Vanishing Texas River Cruise by Canyon of the Eagles. As the waters in the river drop due to drought, see the old town of Bluffton, previously covered by water, in addition to all the wildlife and scenery Texas hill country is known for. These cruises sell out quickly, so you may want to book your reservation before you arrive at Inks Lake.
