  • Beautiful

"We were in town for a Willie Nelson show, and needed a place nearby. We wanted a place on the water, to be able to kayak and swim, while taking in some of the amazing views that Austin has to offer. We pulled up onto this property, and were stunned at how magnificent it was. Huge home, huge loft over their garage (which is the rental), and tremendous views of the river. Mary, the owner, was extremely kind and down to earth. Made us feel at home right off the bat. We kayaked, rode the cool little water bike things down the river, and the three tiered jacuzzi was great to soak in the first night we stayed. We sunned out on the huge balcony-like dock as well. It was an inspirational stay, and motivated us to set the bar a little higher for ourselves as far as where we want to go in life. Mary is proving her guests with a taste of luxury living. Well worth the investment in yourself to stay at Camp Sawin."

  • Might just be the prettiest place in the Texas Hill Country

"I still can't believe this place exists. I've lived and worked and camped all across the hill country all my life and there is no other place like this one. The owners have spent 19 years grooming this property. On the mile of private river frontage there is zero cactus, no loose rock. Just giant elms and sycamore trees and smooth grass. The place looks like a park. You can play football along the river. There are hiking trails, off road trails, caves to explore, natural springs bubbling up out of the ground, campsites, lookouts, canyons, scavenger hunting maps, tree maps, shooting ranges. There is a magnificent lodge on the river. The San Saba river no less. In all the Texas Hill Country there is no prettier river than the San Saba. It's crystal clear. Everything was first rate - everything we needed was provided to us. You are 10 minutes from town but 1000 miles from stress. What an unbelievable property."

  • Wonderful, Quiet Get Away

"Thula House was exactly as advertised. It was easy to locate. Neighbors were quite friendly. I use a walker so getting in and out was a bit tricky..but once inside easy to get around w/o obstruction. The home is furnished with some lovely antiques. Main A/C and heat as well as multiple ceiling fans. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths. A washer and dryer available for your use as well. Upon arrival a lovely parfait treat was waiting in the fridge. The kids thought that was awesome. Birdseed was provided for feeders. Also, fresh eggs were provided at no charge. We spent many hours just watching the birds and deer. My Grandson was enthralled with looking each bird up in our Audubon Field Guide. Satellite TV was provided as well. A covered car port and a tempting fireplace. Our purpose of going was just to get out of town for a few days and relax. This home was perfect. We rented a boat from the nearby marina and cruised the lake as well. The Master shower is excellent. The only hiccup was the hot and cold faucets were backwards in the bath off the living room. I scaled my hand the first time we used it. We had 10 and 11 yr old grand kids with us. This is not a home for toddlers or rowdy teenagers. It is perfect for older well behaved children and a couples retreat. WI FI was also provided. We will be back. We are hoping to shoot for Thanksgiving. Many of these same thoughts have been submitted on TripAdvisor as well. Thanks Robin for a lovely weekend. OH, one other big plus for us. No Smoking allowed in house, no scented candles or plug ins, no incense. As allergy and asthma sufferers that was a HUGE relief."

  • Great accommodation close to resort and yatch club

"Connie was a pleasure to work with and quick to respond to any questions prior to and during our stay. The condo has very large "living areas" and both the master suite beds were extremely comfortable. The closet in both bedrooms were large enough to be bedrooms! The patio has a great pass through window and ledge into the kitchen which made cooking outside easy! There is plenty of parking for large trucks and boats. The condo location is within walking distance to the resort, in fact there is a field in between the condo location and the resort that made it easy for the kids to use! There is plenty of wildlife and deer for viewing, a great area to run/walk and a peaceful location to relax on the patio in the evenings. It's also less than five minute drive to the yatch club pool and marina! I would work with Connie again and plan to stay here again for future HSB adventures!"
