  • End of Summer Weekend!

"Reserved this location for the proximity to the water, size of the house, and the amount of grass space in the back yard. This weekend happened to be my 40th BDay weekend too! The house is VERY spacious. The pictures don't show how much room there is. We had 15 adults and everyone slept great and room to move around inside. Even with the hot temperatures outside, the AC inside was more than adequate to keep everyone cool. I would recommend future guests to plan on bringing inflatables for the water. Things that would provide entertainment on the water. If I'm ever in the Austin area again for a long weekend, I would stay at this house again. Thank you!"

  • Parent weekend get away

"WOW! This was our first college parent weekend and we wanted something close to campus that made us get a feeling of what the town was really like so we steered clear of the big hotels. We stumbled upon this and took a chance....we were certain it could not be as cute as the pictures said it was...AND WE WERE WRONG! This place is so charming and clean and convenient that I hope it is available for every single trip we take down there. The owners were super nice and available for any questions. The bed was comfy, the linens top notch and the back porch was the cherry on top! I, reluctantly, highly recommend this property (my relunctance due to the fact I am afraid it will be booked next time I want to go)."

  • What a wonderful home.

"We spent a week at the River House in Blanco Texas and had a fabulous time. My son got married on May 4th 2014 and we decided to rent the River Home due to its location, convenience and the hospitality of the owner. The weather was perfect and being next to the river and downtown made our vacation so easy. We fished, walked the trails, barbecued out and basically had a wonderful time. If you were in need of anything, you could just open a closet or drawer and find it. We spent a week and never once turned on the television. This was our first trip to the Hill Country of Texas and we found the area to be most beautiful and people even more so. The only regrets we had was that the time was way to short. We would have loved to spend more time exploring the area and fishing the river. This is a vacation house that really makes you feel at home. I would recommend this vacation home to anyone. This is truly a home away from home."

Lake Buchanan Vacation Houses Provide a Wide Variety of Things to Do

The wide open Lake Buchanan is surrounded by limestone and granite hills offering a host of different activities. Canyon cliffs and waterfalls provide some beautiful photographs and memories. Nature lovers will be able to watch herons, mallards and bald eagles. Fishing enthusiasts can hook trophy-sized bass, stripers and catfish. Swimming, sailing, boat trips, windsurfing, Jet Skiing and more can all be enjoyed from your Lake Buchanan lodging. Hike the trails, ride the zip line, or trek on horseback through the unspoiled natural surroundings. For a change, head to one of the local towns for antiquing, gift shops and local restaurants.

Discover the Local Sights from Texas Hill Country Vacation Rentals

The area around Lake Buchanan is known for its local wineries which make for a fun day out. Tour the facilities, see the vines and learn the tricks of the trade. Finally, taste the produce in the tasting room and pick up a couple of bottles for the evening.

Head out and visit the Buchanan Dam which was the longest multiple-arch dam in the U.S. when it was built. Close by is the privately-owned lighthouse which can be seen as you drive along the south end of the lake. Dine out at one of the waterfront restaurants which provide steaks, fish, Mexican food and more, or take a scenic wilderness tour aboard one of the boats which offer two-hour trips along the historic Colorado River Canyon. They have two observation decks for spotting wildlife, bald eagles and the cascading waterfalls.

Kingsland is a small unincorporated town of about 5,600 residents. From here, you can hire a boat and sail up the Llano River. Just upstream from Kingsland, “the slab” is a popular gathering place on the sandy beach. The area is best known for its fields of bluebonnets which flower from March through May, and are a spectacularly beautiful sight.
