  • Another great trip

"This was our third annual summer vacation to this Frio River house. The water was lower this year but it didn't prevent us from having another fabulous visit. We enjoyed every minute and looking forward to coming again next year."

  • Great Horseshoe Bay Condo

"This condo had everything we needed and was bigger than expected for a 2 bedroom. Very good layout, in a 5 unit complex with shared pool. During our visit the pool was like our own, with no other users. Across the street from the main Horseshoe Bay Resort and very close to the area golf courses. Candace was a pleasure to work with, communicating clearly and quickly. We are looking forward to staying again next year."

  • WONDERFUL MINI VACATION!!!

"We absolutely adored this house!! We were a group of 4 couples surprising our friends for their birthday and what a surprise it was. They were taken aback by the house and all it had to offer. We cooked the entire weekend and the house was stocked with all the extras we needed. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because we really wished the pool was heated. With Texas unpredictable weather, it got really cold and we would have loved to enjoy the pool the entire weekend. Other than that everything was perfect* Would recommend this house to anyone looking for a getaway!"

  • Great house. Great people.

"We stayed there for our first wedding anniversary. Had a great weekend drinking wine, eating lots of german food and shopping around Main Street. Very convenient location that was close enough to everything to even walk if you didn't mind yet was still very quiet and secluded. The owners left some pastries for breakfast and we made a quick trip to HEB to pick up a few more essentials. Full kitchen, nice bathroom and bedroom. Cable tv, no Internet, great BBQ and backyard area. All in all a great trip and experience. I left my keys in the house by mistake and they promptly found and shipped them to me without any trouble. Will definitely visit and stay here again."

Lake Buchanan Travel Tips

Lake Buchanan Vacation Rentals for the Perfect Getaway in the Highland Lakes

This man-made lake is 30 miles long and five miles at its widest point. It is the perfect destination for a relaxing vacation with family, friends or a loved one, and is beautiful in all seasons.

Lake Buchanan Vacation Houses Provide a Wide Variety of Things to Do

The wide open Lake Buchanan is surrounded by limestone and granite hills offering a host of different activities. Canyon cliffs and waterfalls provide some beautiful photographs and memories. Nature lovers will be able to watch herons, mallards and bald eagles. Fishing enthusiasts can hook trophy-sized bass, stripers and catfish. Swimming, sailing, boat trips, windsurfing, Jet Skiing and more can all be enjoyed from your Lake Buchanan lodging. Hike the trails, ride the zip line, or trek on horseback through the unspoiled natural surroundings. The Canyon of the Eagles Nature Park provides 940 acres of protected reserve which is home to many threatened and endangered birds. It is a great place for hiking and nature-spotting. For a change, head to one of the local towns for antiquing, gift shops and local restaurants.

Getting to Your Lake Buchanan Lodging Is Easy

Head out and visit the Buchanan Dam which was the longest multiple-arch dam in the U.S. when it was built. Close by is the privately-owned lighthouse which can be seen as you drive along the south end of the lake. Dine out at one of the waterfront restaurants which provide steaks, fish, Mexican food and more, or take a scenic wilderness tour aboard one of the boats which offer two-hour trips along the historic Colorado River Canyon. They have two observation decks for spotting wildlife, bald eagles and the cascading waterfalls.

Kingsland is a small unincorporated town of about 5,600 residents. From here, you can hire a boat and sail up the Llano River. Just upstream from Kingsland, “the slab” is a popular gathering place on the sandy beach. The area is best known for its fields of bluebonnets which flower from March through May, and are a spectacularly beautiful sight.
