  • Great for fishing and lake access

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Peacock house. Pros: The water frontage of the property is great for fishing. The stainless gas grill is super nice and the kitchen has everything you would need. We really enjoyed using the 2 kayaks and the fire pit for smores. One day we rented a boat from Splash boat rentals. They delivered the boat to the dock and also picked it up which was a huge perk. The beds were all very nice and comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and there were lots of soft towels. There is free wifi. The owner was very responsive and answered any questions we had during our stay very quickly. Cons: You can't really swim off the docks. The water is shallow and has a lot of algae at the bottom. The bathroom layout meant a lot of adults had to share the one small bathroom. One is inside the master bedroom area downstairs. The second bathroom is upstairs for the other 3 bedrooms. I was usually the last to shower and I did notice that I always had enough hot water. We would stay here again."

  • Oak House -Spring Break Getaway

"My husband and I were there with our teenage age daughter and her friends to enjoy the last few days of spring break. It was very enjoyable and the homeowners have provided all kinds of games, pool table, card table, etc.- something for everyone to have fun. The lake was quiet and had it been warmer, it may have been fun to swim in. We brought a little raft and the girls had fun with that - sunning on the rocks and fishing off the rocks. Very quiet and relaxing! No loud parties allowed, there is a noise curfew. I suggest you bring a fire pit to enjoy in the evenings as this house didn't have one. Homeowners were always available by phone to answer any questions."

Here, visitors may be lucky enough to find a fossil of Ice Age mammals that once lived in the cavern or relics from its first human inhabitants, the Comanche Indians. During the Civil War, the cavern was used by the confederates to manufacture gunpowder. Local legend has it that the famous Texas outlaw, Sam Bass, also used this place as a hideout! Be warned, the cavern is said to be haunted! So much so, that brave visitors may choose to accompany one of the ghost hunts held here.
