  • Wonderful Getaway

"This was our first time to The Leakey Area and we had a great time. We had 10 adult guests, a family gathering with groups from all over Texas. The location was a perfect distance from town. We didn't expect the home to be close to the road but it was absolutely not an issue. The river view, sounds, wildlife were wonderful. The property was great for exploring and family photos. The house was as described very comfortable, homey and warm. For our ten guest the sleeping accommodations were perfect and the three bathrooms a must with eight women. The oven was small for a Thanksgiving meal but the gas range was nice. Just recommend checking with the owners to see what well stocked kitchen means if you plan on cooking much. We appreciate the owners putting their home up for rent for others to enjoy. We will be passing their information on to friends who are looking for a place to rent. Leakey had several antique stores and very friendly locals. Also a small grocery store."

  • Best Bud's Runaway Retreat

"Four friends and I chose Creekside for a weekend retreat in September of last year. Within 5 minutes of our arrival one of the guys declared that he wanted to buy the property. It was everything we could have asked for in the way of comfort, seclusion and proximity to nearby attractions. We enjoyed cooking wonderful meals in the house and on the grounds, fishing and hiking the Frio in Garner State Park. and scenic drives that took us through Tarpley, Bandera and Medina. Among our favorite moments there were those we spent sitting on the porches in the crisp early mornings and late afternoon and watching the deer at the feeder in the meadow by the house. We all lead very stressful lives, and Creekside provided a wonderful escape from "the real world".The house is beautifully appointed with attractive and comfortable furniture, and the helpfulness and cooperation of the owners was extraordinary. While there, the TV was almost never on, the phones were used only to touch base with home, and the entire time was devoted to simple relaxation. I could go on extensively, but will conclude by saying that our initial trip to Creekside has become a much anticipated annual event. A portion of last years group will be returning within the next couple of weeks to enjoy this wonderful place again. It is the one annual event we will all take time off from work to enjoy, and is the highlight of our year."

  • Another great trip

"This was our third annual summer vacation to this Frio River house. The water was lower this year but it didn't prevent us from having another fabulous visit. We enjoyed every minute and looking forward to coming again next year."

  • prettier than the pictures!

"Thank you to Vicky for sharing this great cabin! The location is beautiful, peaceful, private, and secluded. The creek on the property was dry but I assumed it would be given the drought. Amenities were many and as described. Vicky called to make sure I was settled in and another time make arrangements for someone to come by to repair the dryer and clean out the fire pit. There was a small hole in the porch screen but I saw not a single bug take advantage of it. My dogs and I enjoyed taking daily drives and walks. Lost Maples State Park is nearby, as is a convenience store in Vanderpool. The best part of my stay was seeing the full moon rising over the hill. Gorgeous. I would definitely like to visit again and I would recommend the cabin to others especially if they have dogs. For those planning an extended stay and any serious cooking you might want to bring your own cookware. The few pots and pans that are provided are lightweight and the nonstick finish badly scratched and chipped. Also, where these are stored in the bottom cabinets is a cluttered, dark, and scary place."
