  • Perfect place for two

"Though small in size, The Hideaway is big in features and perfectly appointed. From the Vera Wang mattress to the nicely equipped kitchenette--nothing is missed. Perfectly situated in old Abilene and convenient to the highways, we used this as our home base while attending our son's graduation and couldn't have been more pleased with our decision. WIth our days full of people and celebrating, this was exactly what we needed--a quiet place for just the two of us to get away from it all, recharge and reflect while enjoying a glass of wine in the private courtyard. While there I toured two other larger Sayles Home Guesthouses and I was beyond impressed with the designer touches, high end treatments and custom art. Meticulous attention to detail was evident in each home and my hat is off to the owner/designer--he has done a wonderful job capturing the essence, spirit and feeling of old Abilene and vintage Texas in a subtle and classic way that you rarely see in the vacation home market. Finally, I got to tour the still under construction Sayles Landmark, a new addition to the Sayles Ranch Guesthouses, which is set to open in December. All I can say is as soon as you can book a room--do it! It is going to be amazing."

  • Relaxing, Texas-Decor, Great Owner

"Thank you so much for the wonderful stay at your home in Abilene. The photos are great, but they don't quite do justice to the house. The property was spotlessly clean. The yard was well-maintained. The linens on the super comfie beds were delightfully soft and fresh. Our whole family really enjoyed the lovely pool under the shade of tall trees. We loved the "lap lane" in the pool and the big, soft beach towels by the back door. We were looking for a way to relax and reconnect with our kids for a few days, and this home had it all. The fun, Texas decor, books, comfortable furniture, space, flatscreen TVs, and games made us never want to leave the house. The gourmet kitchen allowed us to cook yummy meals and enjoy them as a family. We did wish that we'd had access to a grill, but the other benefits to the fabulous kitchen outweighed that for us. The house was located in an older neighborhood with a mixture of BEAUTIFULLY restored homes and more modest older homes. We would have loved to have known some of the history of this house. The fixtures, stairway, front door, etc were absolutely gorgeous. The owner was patient, kind, helpful, available, and a pleasure to work with. We would definitely return and/or recommend the house to others. Thanks again for a relaxing, rejuvenating stay."

  • Rest at the gateway

"The minute I walked through the door, I felt such a sweet refreshing peace. The cottage is saturated with the presence of God. As I walked through the cottage or just sat on the couch, God was constantly downloading revelation from His heart. Such an awesome place to get away for a weekend. To stop and listen. And to just be still."
