  • Great place.

"We had a great time staying in the house. It was a perfect size for just the two of us. Very nice and clean and had everything we needed for the four nights we stayed there. Loved the boat slip even caught a couple of nice catfish right off the docks of the boat slip. Had a great time watching the "wildlife". Mostly the Mallard ducks. One had 13 babies. So relaxing just sitting and watching and talking to other people in the neighborhood. Everyone was so nice and helpful with fishing directions. Would love to go again and use the same house. So affordable and clean. Didn't even need the upstairs even though it would have slept three more people."

  • Quick getaway

"Luckily, we were able to rent this home at the last minute when we just needed a little peace and a little fishing. This was just the place for both. Both the owner and the neighbor who assists with check in ( and her husband) were very friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. Great dock to swim off and/or fish off and a large yard for Frisbee or throwing the football. And the sunset was like a postcard. We will definitely be back! Thank you."

  • Quiet Retreat

"We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to East Texas and to the Cozy Cottage. We would go sight-seeing during the early part of the day (hiking at Lake Livingston State Park and trails in the Big Thicket Nature Preserve) and spend the later part of the afternoon and evening at the cottage. It is so relaxing and peaceful and there is so much wildlife to see. 2 alligators went swimming by the dock (my husband was so excited) and many different kinds of birds. We had the best luck fishing at night (after the turtles went to the bank) and caught some catfish! The kitchen has everything that you could possibly need to cook meal and there is an extensive movie selection. It was exactly what we needed! :)"

Onalaska Travel Tips

Onalaska Vacation Rentals Have Something for Everyone

A little known town called Onalaska sits in the perfect place for recreation. The towering trees of Piney Woods and the waters of Lake Livingston make up the boundaries of this Texas delight, and visitors who want access to both water and land-related activities need not search any further. Fishing, sailing, wildlife viewing, camping, biking, horseback riding, museums, fine dining, and more are all within easy reach of Onalaska vacation houses, apartments, or condos, which makes this the perfect vacation spot for just about anyone.

Lake Livingston Offers Wet n' Wild Fun

From Piney Woods lodging it's often just a few steps to Lake Livingston where you can sail or water or jet ski if you're into water adventure. If your fishing pole is looking for adventure, you're in luck, too. In fact, the lake has a local reputation for being a fisherman's perfect location. Catfish, bass, and perch are just a few of the fish you can reel in from shore or a boat, and in January, white bass are so plentiful in nearby Trinity River, that you're sure to catch a wriggler you can brag about. For swimming, use the pool at Lake Livingston State Park.

Lake Livingston Is Not Just for Water Lovers

For those prefer to stay out of the water, there are plenty of fun options waiting on dry land near Onalaska vacation rentals. Bike through the scenery of Piney Woods, and in spring, get treated to beautiful wildflower views or hike through the pine needles and earthy scents. You can even ride a horse through the back trails of Piney Woods from Lake Livingston Stables. This equestrian center allows you to rent a horse for the day and purchase a guided horseback riding tour that will feed you a meal. All are close by your Piney Woods lodging,
