"My family and me decided to slow down this vacation so we chose the Crappie house and we loved it. The cabin was clean and comfortable and Mike and Ruth were very helpful. We spent every morning fishing and caught tons of fish and spent the afternoons out exploring the area. The weather was a little rough but it made it really nice sitting out on the deck watching the waves in the lake. Even the wife and kids said they would want to come back and considering that they are more used to beaches and Disney World that is saying something. We love it so take my suggestion and have a relaxing vacation for a change."

"We chose the Sugoi Lodge for our annual family reunion because it would hold our large (ultimately nearly 20 people) over Thanksgiving. The lovely lodge was perfect in nearly all respects and the scenery left you breathless. The kitchen had two large ovens, large refrigerator, and equally large freezer. There were enough tables for a much larger group than ours and beds that let you sleep like babies. Although the wood stove was for decoration only, there was a firepit outside overlooking the lakes where one could catch up on all the family news for the past year. The fish weren't biting (maybe because it was late November?), but some folks had fun trying and others took one of the boats out on the lake. Most of us took walks/hikes around the big lake near the lodge. The manager Jim was always available, helpful, and very pleasant to deal with. We moved the outside grill to a slightly different place where there was better light after sunset. It was great that we were out in the country, but not at all far from town. I might suggest that a memo be placed on the kitchen counter with answers to the questions which visitors throughout the year ask. We LOVED this lodge!"

"My Wife and I rented this Cabin for a weeks vacation. We found the Cabin to be very quite and comfortable. Currently the Owners Daughter, April and her significant other Jerry, are living next door and they are a great couple. They had just moved in the week before and are now helping with the care of the Properties. They would constantly ask if we needed anything anytime they saw us out. Jerry had noticed we had moved the outside Trash Can from the Deck as it was starting to smell. While we were gone he came over and emptied the Can and gave it a complete cleaning. When we arrived back at the Cabin he apologized to no end about the smell and he emptied the Can an additional time between then and when we left. We do not fish so I can not give a report on that but we did see a number of Wildlife at or on the drive to the Cabin including a Bald Eagle, Blue Heron and many other birds at the Cabin. On the Highway coming into the Cabin we saw several Deer and a Bobcat cross the Road. The little town of Hemphill is about 15 Miles from the Cabin and you can get Groceries, Gas and Food there. We highly recommend The Feed Store Café just off of the Square and there are some nice Shops in and around Town. If we make our way back to this area we would stay here again without questions."

"This lakefront cabin provides the essentials for a pleasant vacation at a fair price. The cabin also comes with a canoe and a small boat, which were critical for us as the dock was unreachable from land due to high lake levels. That's a good problem to have, no complaints, but if you're expecting to walk out onto a dock you may want to research first. It was easy enough to launch the boat from land, as there is a set of stone steps descending to the water.
The large master bedroom is on the first floor, with a full bathroom attached. The other bedrooms are at the top of a steep set of stairs, and you must pass through one bedroom (with a full bed) to reach the second bedroom (two twin mattresses on floor-level frames). This setup was not a problem for us, but renters with small children, mobility issues, or privacy needs should be aware.
Each room has its own A/C unit on the wall, so individual preferences can be accommodated. The second bathroom is off of the living area, with a clothes dryer (but no washer, as stated in the property description). The living area is quite large and the deck is ample - we enjoyed using both. The kitchen is adequate for simple meals, and there is a charcoal grill available. We brought our own deep fryer and were pleased to catch enough fish to need it!
Regarding food, there is a WalMart Neighborhood Market in the town of Lone Star, the closest location to pick up fresh grocery items. For eating out, we highly recommend Five D Cattle Co. in Avinger for a great dinner. They take reservations, and are willing to split meals between diners.
As many reviewers have stated, the sunsets here are lovely!"
