  • Great place for a family reunion

"My husband and I took our 4 adult children and some of the grandchildren for a weekend. Perfect place for fishing (catch & release). Horses in the pasture adjoining the property loved being hand fed the sliced carrots I brought. The house is actually 6.5 baths not 7.5. The cons first. We had bad cell phone reception, a hairdryer was only in 1 bedroom, no shampoo/conditioner, broken/uneven stepping stones outside back door, plenty of knives in kitchen, but all are "very" dull, boats had water in them that we had to empty, two trolling motors were missing, but were promised on Saturday (never arrived), property was only partially mowed (said a mower broke down). The pros. There is a fire pit (bring your own wood), one outdoor chair in each bedroom, combination safe in each bedroom, coffee/condiments in each bedroom as well as in dining room area, many condiments for kitchen provided, i.e. sugar, salt/pepper, ketchup, mustard, paper towels, 3 full size washers/dryers, very close to Wal-Mart/town. Other things. The gazebo has a round table in it, so it can't be used for a wedding, but a great place for fishing. The grill is for charcoal. Caretaker Jim comes twice a day to remove trash and provide any information/requests. He knocks and comes right on in without waiting for the door to the answered. There is a combination lock, so locking the door wouldn't prevent his entry. One morning he saw my son-in-law (an earlycriser) fishing & spoke to him. Son-in-law told him everyone was still sleeping. He came in anyway and I ran into him almost literally as I was coming out of my bedroom. He didn't knock that time. There is a tip jar for the housekeeper, but we were asked to do whatever we could to help her out before we left. I washed all the towels and folded what wasn't in the dryers before we left. However, there is no additional fee for cleaning. There is tax charged on the house which is not indicated in the VRBO website. Would I stay there again--YES, but with an understanding about entry with Jim."

  • Fantastic 4th of July!!!

"The Lake House and boat dock were great! It was beyond all of our expectations, especially the fishing right from the dock. We spent 90% of our time on the dock with convenience of satellite TV, fishing, grilling, sunning and swimming right at our fingertips. The kids enjoyed the hot tub! We had not just one, but two, fabulous nights of fireworks viewable right from the convenience of the boat dock. The family games, puzzles, movies and wifi were a great bonus! We are already planning our return trip!!"

Locals will tell you that every visitor who comes through the east Texas town of Lake O The Pines comments on its beauty, and then comments on the laid back feel of life. People are friendly and happy here, and the beauty of the surrounding nature will calm your stress as well. From sunset viewing at the lake to seeing a bald eagle take flight from a nearby tree to camping under clear skies full of stars you can't see in big cities, Lake O The Pines vacation rentals are a fantastic choice for nature lovers or people aching to get away.

No Shortage of Things to Do from Piney Woods Lodging

You can camp, hike, bike, swim, boat, sail, bird watch, or simply enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors. Lake O The Pines fishing is a great catch. Several varieties of catfish and bass, as well as crappie and sunfish, can be found in these waters. You can drive about twenty minutes to nearby historic Jefferson where the antique shopping is popular for good reason. The Texas Wildflower Trail has some routes in the area that are an explosion of color in spring. Bring a picnic and stop along one of the flowery vistas for lunch.

Gamble Your Troubles Away from Lake O The Pines Vacation Houses

Nearby Shreveport is a little over an hour away from your Lake O The Pines vacation rental. In this Louisiana city known for gambling, you can choose from the dozens of casinos and resorts. Flash some cash if you've got it—or want to pretend like you do—at one of the famed riverboat casinos for southern hospitality and flair. Sam's Town Hotel and Casino is a riverboat establishment worth checking out for the atmosphere as much as the gaming.
