Scenic Places to Visit from Alta Condos
Alta has a fascinating history and is well worth exploring. It was founded in 1865 for the miners of the rich silver mines in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Most of the town was destroyed by a fire in 1878, followed by an avalanche in 1885. By the 1930s, it had just one near-bankrupt resident, George Watson. Visitors can discover his story and other interesting sights with a tour of the historic town and the Alta Memorial Grove.
