  • Incredible cabin, great location, the kids loved it!!!

"Our stay in the Papa Bear Lodge was absolutely incredible. The property met and exceeded our expectations. It was clean, spacious, and perfect for a large group. The kids loved all of the fun amenities (foosball, pool, playground, playroom, theater), and it was large enough that we didn't feel like we were on top of each other all weekend. The kitchen was great for preparing large meals and was very well equipped. The property manager was on top of things, and was there to greet us when we arrived. The beach was close enough to walk to, wasn't rocky like some of the other beaches we've been to at bear lake, and had the very gradual downslope that makes it great for younger kids and parents trying to corral the kids. We also ended up doing several other fun activities that were a short drive away, including hiking and horseback riding. We rented waverunners and paddleboards on the south end of the lake because were were late in the season and all but 1 location had shut down, but I saw a rental location just north of the cabin that was very close and convenient, and had only closed the Saturday prior. Even then it was only a 10 minute drive to get to the beach on the South end. If you're after one of the famous bear lake shakes, I'd try the Chevron gas station on Hwy 89 just as you come into Garden City. Yes, the gas station. It's about 3 minutes from the cabin. The only issue we had (and it was minor) was that the fire pit in the backyard is gas, which is super convenient, but doesn't get as hot as a wood fire, so cooking over it (hot dogs, s'mores) doesn't have quite the same results. We had no issues with booking or payment. We had to change our arrival date, and they re-booked us without any issues. We are definitely planning to use this place again, possibly a weekend during the winter as it's just a great "getaway" location."

  • Love this home!!

"We loved staying in this beautiful, relaxing oasis. We had a large family reunion with several adults and a ton of children. This home is so well planned that there are plenty of rooms for privacy when needed as well as great gathering areas for numerous people for group activities or a late night talking session. The home is clean and check-out was a cinch. (No massive cleaning responsibilities at the end of an awesome vacation.) There is a private yard with room for fun and games and maybe a tent or two as well. Parking was perfect with an abundance of safe parking spaces. We didn't have to shuffle cars once!! Close to Garden City but far enough away to have peace and quiet. The kitchen functioned perfectly to feed a crowd too. All in all a great place to stay. We've stayed at other vacation homes near Bear Lake and this one is by far our favorite!! We plan to return often. You'll LOVE it here!!"

  • Exceptional!!

"We have stayed at other cabins around the area and this one by far was the best! We have 8 grandkids under the age of 9 and they had a blast. They loved the game room and the theater was so much fun not only for the kids but also the adults. There was plenty of room for all and the view was phenomenal. Kitchen was roomy and serviceable, but our favorite was the deck and all the tables and chairs. We spent a lot of time out there for meals and visiting. Such a great place! We will be back again!!"

  • Wonderful vacation cabin!

"The pictures of this cabin do not do it justice. We were very surprised when we pulled up to the cabin and even more surprised when we walked in to find such a beautiful place. There was ample room and the three bedrooms upstairs, children's bunk beds down was the reason we grandparents weren't woken up at dawn! We brought tubs full of supplies but the kitchen was so fully stocked that we won't do that next time! The house was clean and the furnishings were nice as we'll. The toy room kept the kids intertained in the evenings and the movies kept the adults entertained. Having three floors was nice for privacy reasons and having a bathroom on each floor was great. We would recommend this cabin to anyone with a good sized family, we had plenty of room to move around in! We were able to find countless places for the kids to sled on and the snowmobile trails were everywhere. The only thing this property was lacking was the no pet clause, our two dogs are family and we have never left them alone before. It would be nice if small, house trained and we'll behaved pets were allowed. If the cabin has availability, We will be returning every year to this cabin as the entire family felt the memories made during our vacation were priceless."

Bear Lake Travel Tips

Bear Lake Vacation Rentals Are Where Utah Meets Idaho

Bear Lake straddles the border between Utah and Idaho. This beautiful lake area is accessed by US Highways 39 and 30 or 89 off Interstate 15. It is within easy access of Salt Lake City International Airport. With four distinct seasons, Bear Lake condos attract visitors all year-round. The area is the historic home of the Shoshoni Tribes and was a trapping area in the mid-1800s. It was first settled by Mormon pioneers in 1863 and the county is named after the group’s leader, Rich County.

Bear Lake Vacation Houses by the "Caribbean of the Rockies"

The lake itself is some 20 miles by eight miles and has 48 miles of shoreline; at its deepest point, it is 208 feet. Bear Lake vacation rentals are close to three recreation areas--Bear Lake Marina, East Beach and Rendezvous Beach. The water of the lake is so intensely blue that it is nicknamed "the Caribbean of the Rockies." In fact, the explanation for the incredible color is the reflection from the accumulated limestone in the lake. In summer, the 70,000-acre lake offers activities such as swimming, boating and sailing. There are also areas with ramps set aside for waterskiing and wakeboarding. Visitors are welcome to bring their own watercraft or use rentals. It is also a popular spot for anglers with fish such as cutthroat trout and unique species such as the Bonneville cisco, whitefish and Bear Lake sculpin.

There are literally hundreds of miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and using ATVs. Starting at Utah State Marina, the Bear Lake Scenic Bike Trail is over four miles of paved area ending at Ideal Beach. There is a raised wood walkway, Garden City Park Walkway, where visitors can study the markers telling the history of the area. Visitors may also want to hike the easy mile of the Limber Pine Trail through a 2,000-year-old limber pine. The reward for hiking or driving the Bloomington Lake Trail is a tiny glacial lake with waterfalls, set in the incredible cliffs. This is a particularly beautiful hike in summer when the wildflowers are in full bloom. The Highline Trail is accessible from various areas including the canyons of Bloomington, Paris, Emigration and Logan. This 55-mile trail is used for hiking, biking, horseback riding and motorcycles. During three of the four seasons, the weather is perfect for golf and there are plenty of courses scattered around the hillsides. Nature lovers will enjoy Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge, dedicated to preserving the local animal, bird and plants on over 18,000 acres. The area is also home to moose, deer and trumpeter swans. Those brave enough to venture underground will enjoy a walk through the spectacular half-mile long Minnotonka Cave.

Plenty of Winter Activities at Bear Lake

In winter, Bear Lake vacation houses are ideal for a variety of fun activities such as snowmobiling over its 350 miles of trails, downhill and cross country skiing as well as ice fishing on the lake. Visitors at this time of year will find the Hardware Ranch area a great place to spot elk. The variety of terrains and trails make it a great place for those who love the snow.

Bear Lake Condos are Impressive Properties
