  • Great, albeit a little quirky

"Location is lovely (although you do need a car). Quiet (except for the rooster in the mornings and the neighbours dogs if deer or coyote were nearby!). We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Kanab and the 8 nights spent at the Retro Retreat were perfectly pleasant. Mary has taken great care in leaving you everything you could need. It's great for two couples (like us) as rooms & bathrooms are at either end of the property to each other. There's also plenty of seating space in separate areas so you can have your own space if sharing with others (although the sun room was very cold this time of year, obviously). The only slight 'negatives' for me (and this is just personal choice) the bed in the master 'ensuite' was far too soft and bouncy (I have a restless husband), and also we are used to having a door on the shower room. The floor is a little uneven in places which made us feel a bit wobbly at times and our friends did have an issue with their toilet cistern on occasions. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was lovely to come back to the house and see the huge starry sky with no light pollution. It's also great that you can take your dog (although we left ours at home this time). Looking in the visitor book you can see that Mary really does look after her guests and there are many that return year after year from all over the world. If you are happy with a few quirks then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Retro Retreat as your base in Kanab (providing you have a car)."

  • Our Favorite Winiter Retreat

"This was our 3rd Thanksgiving and 5th trip to the Red Horse Ranch. It's one of the places we have stayed. The kids have a blast and all the comforts of home are available. I can't say enough about this home and the people that keep it up. Carla is wonderful and helpful and Pam is just as helpful and kind. It's a great place to stay, relax and enjoy some time off."

  • I stay here every year

"I've been coming to Kanab to volunteer at Best Friends since 2009, and I've been renting Juniper House once a year since 2010. It's large enough that I can share it with other volunteers and never feel crowded. The house is beautiful and great for parties! I love that it's within walking distance of several restaurants and only a few minutes from the sanctuary. After four years of coming here, it feels like my home away from home. I've already reserved it for next year!"

  • Clean, comfortable, relaxing, and great kitchen!

"We really enjoyed our stay at this house in Kanab. My husband said it had the best equipped kitchen we've seen in all our VRBO rentals. We used Kanab as base for exploring the area: Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, Squawk/Cliff Trails (Cliff Trail is not for the faint at heart or the unfit), and The Wave (only 20 people per day are allowed to visit, with 10 permits available via an online lobby and 10 permits available at the Bureau of Land Management office in Kanab)."
