  • Bright spot on a rough vacation...

"It was pretty much the vacation from Hell. First full day of our vaction (before we came to Kanab) my husband broke his ankle. Last full day, my daughter and I both got a nasty stomach bug. Thank goodness for having a really comfortable place to call home during our time in Kanab. The house was immaculately clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of space. The kitchen was well appointed with just about every kind of applicance you could want, including a really good blender (margaritas, anyone?). I was a little worried about the "swamp cooler" type air conditioner, but the house actually stayed as cool as we could possibly want it, even on 100-degree days. Being able to do laundry easily was such a nice change from staying in a hotel. Especially given the whole "stomach bug" thing (enough said). As far as Kanab goes, we keep getting drawn back to that area. Maybe we'll retire there some day! Maybe Lynn and Dianne will consider selling in another 20 years or so! ;) Such a great little town and with so much to do within an easy drive. And I think it maybe be the most breath-taking scenery I have ever seen, and I've done a fair amount of traveling. So, Kanab and Muriel's Place are a great combination, even on a vacation where it seems like everything is going wrong."

  • Great Place all around!!

"Comfortable, Clean, and Cozy. If you are going to be visit Kanab, this is a great place. It really has everything you need. Fully stocked kitchen, (with the worlds cutest cheese grater), big stove/oven combo for cooking with a full refrigerator. Plus a great gas grill for cooking out. Swamp cooler works great too. Plenty of parking if you are a large group. And only a block away from the "strip".... And the WIFI works great too!! I used this house as a base camp for exploring Coyote Buttes, White Pockets, the Wave, as well as Zion National Park, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Bryce Canyon as well as the Page Arizona area. Great hostess too!!"

Sylvia"

  • Beautiful, clean and best house in Kanab, Utah!!!!

"If you are looking for a house that is about 15 minutes from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary that is clean, in a safe quiet neighborhood, and beautiful views from every room, then look no further!!! Stewart Point is the place you want to stay at! This house is HUGE, very clean and comes with everything you need for a perfect getaway. My three girlfriends and I volunteered for a week at Best Friends and loved coming back to Stewart's Point after a hard days work....Relaxing with a beer in a cozy lounge chair on the huge deck off the master bedroom was our joy for 6 days!!! Cooking dinners in the kitchen (all the cookware were provided) was so nice but the highlight of our trip was sitting in the living room and watching the sun go down over the huge mountains of Kanab.... and then viewing the bright stars at night from the deck was pretty awesome too! I will be back to volunteer at Best Friends again in the near future and will stay at Stewart Point again, my home away from home! Thank you Stacey for your hospitality and renting out your beautiful home to me and my friends. We loved it!!!....Lorraine P."

The town is also not far from the northern part of the Grand Canyon National Park and serves as a good base from which to explore the area. People who enjoy the outdoors and the charm of the Old West will like staying in Kanab. It is often a recommended excursion for those visiting Las Vegas, particularly if they want to see more of the countryside.

Finding Your Way to Kanab Vacation Houses

Most people will drive up from Las Vegas or from other parts of Nevada, Arizona and Utah. Start off with a visit to the Kane County Tourism Office where you can collect a brochure and map of the major sights in the town. You can enjoy a tour of the Victorian-style Heritage House which is provided in the mornings and afternoons during the summer months. The house dates back to 1855 and was once home to the town’s school teacher named Bowman. It has been lovingly restored to its former glory and is furnished with artifacts from the 19th century.

The Sixtus Johnson House is a single-story 1891 brick house. The original resident’s claim to fame is that his grandfather discovered Zion Canyon in 1858. The Lewis Jepson Home was known to be only one of two homes that had a bathtub. Its owner, Jepson, built the first movie picture theater in Kanab. Today, it is a local restaurant.
