  • Quiet, Clean, and Perfectly Situated

"Our group of four was very comfortable in this well appointed home. It was very clean, easy to find, and convenient to the parks and town. The owners were easy to work with and attentive. We were greeted by Oreo the (outdoor) cat who hung out with us on the porch. The views from the picture windows and the porch are amazing. We would definitely stay here again if we can organize a longer stay---I agree with other reviewers that you need and will want more than a few days in this prime spot in Utah. There is plenty to do from low key to big adventure but do check on availability of desired activities because not everything is fully operational in the area outside of April-October."

  • Comfortable, convenient location for national park visits

"Well-equipped cottage (with a very nice patio) which we used as a home base to visit the awesome nearby national parks and monuments. We also enjoyed the location in Kanab which is within easy walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, McDonald's, gas stations, small movie theatre, local interest shops, etc. The manager was reponsive and communicative and efficient, i.e., very good to work with. This is absolutely beautiful country!"

  • Great, albeit a little quirky

"Location is lovely (although you do need a car). Quiet (except for the rooster in the mornings and the neighbours dogs if deer or coyote were nearby!). We all thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Kanab and the 8 nights spent at the Retro Retreat were perfectly pleasant. Mary has taken great care in leaving you everything you could need. It's great for two couples (like us) as rooms & bathrooms are at either end of the property to each other. There's also plenty of seating space in separate areas so you can have your own space if sharing with others (although the sun room was very cold this time of year, obviously). The only slight 'negatives' for me (and this is just personal choice) the bed in the master 'ensuite' was far too soft and bouncy (I have a restless husband), and also we are used to having a door on the shower room. The floor is a little uneven in places which made us feel a bit wobbly at times and our friends did have an issue with their toilet cistern on occasions. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was lovely to come back to the house and see the huge starry sky with no light pollution. It's also great that you can take your dog (although we left ours at home this time). Looking in the visitor book you can see that Mary really does look after her guests and there are many that return year after year from all over the world. If you are happy with a few quirks then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Retro Retreat as your base in Kanab (providing you have a car)."
