  • Great Getaway condo

"Described well. Clean with recent renovations. Well stocked kitchen for basic cooking (breakfast pretty much all we did). Sports Village is great neighborhood. Priced well and all amenities are kept up. Wifi works great. TIPS FOR OWNER: Get some "hotel style" curtains for the master bedroom since windows open to the east and impossible to sleep in past 6am. Second, dump the old TVs and get a couple flat panel HDTVs. Even just catching up on Sportscenter for a few minutes each day is painful on these old tube TVs. HDTV is the air conditioner of the 21st century. Plus, it'll open up the living room (and "child proof it)... not to mention the TV in the master closet is kind of tacky."

  • Best place

"We come to St. George every year and have stayed at five different places as the number of people in our family has changed. This is our very favorite place by far to stay in-especially for a large group and it's very kid friendly. You can't believe how spacious it is. Even the master bedroom walk-in closet is huge and the room with double beds is big enough to put two pac-n plays in and it includes a recliner. My husband loved to have a recliner and desk up in the loft area too - which is big enough for a huge and comfortable pull out sofa/full-size bed there too and plenty of extra space. I especially loved the huge garden tub and all of the cabinet and counter space in the master bathroom. The kitchen is fully stocked and all of the decor is beautiful and everything is comfortable. We love the huge dining room table where everyone can eat together and still an extra table small table in the kitchen too. There's a cabinet full of games and the patio has a closet full of water toys. They have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable- even extra foam pads in the master walk-in closet, and a standing rotating fan upstairs. Tom and Kim are so accommodating and wonderful to work with. As our family is growing, we love such a nice large place to stay in and plan on coming back here every year."

St. George Travel Tips

Utah’s Dixie--Saint George is an Ideal Location

Saint George, Utah is conveniently located to visit the many sights and activities around this area. It includes Washington County and borders Iron County and Kane County in Utah; Mohave County, Arizona; and Lincoln County, Nevada. The major Highway is I-15 and getting around the region is convenient with excellent links by State Routes 9, 17, 18 and 59. Choosing a St. George lodging will make it convenient to visit the National Protected Areas of Dixie National Forest and the world-famous Zion National Park. To fly here, the local airport is Saint George which has excellent links to the major airport at Salt Lake City. The area is often referred to as "Utah’s Dixie" because of its mild winters.

Zion National Park is Truly Spectacular

If for no other reason, visitors flock to St. George condos for their proximity to Zion National Park with its breathtaking, unique landscapes and variety of outdoor pursuits. The park attracts visitors from around the world for its incredible hiking, climbing and canyoneering. The park is divided into four main sections: (1) Zion Canyon with Court of the Patriarchs, Emerald Pools, Angel Landing an Riverside Trail, (2) Kolob Canyons for its scenic drive, Taylor Creek and Kolob Arch, (3) Kolob Terrace with the Subway and great backcountry trails and (4) Highway 9 which includes the Tunnel, Canyon Overlook trail and Checkerboard Mesa. Many of the trails can be hiked year-round. During summer with its hot weather, the ideal time for hiking is in the morning. Winter months can be icy but the routes remain accessible. Spring is a wonderful time to hike here as the streams have been enlarged through the winter and create wonderful waterfalls. The park also provides fantastic climbing and canyoneering and biking. There are also a variety of off-road driving routes. Or hire horses and discover this area the way the original inhabitants did. The views remain almost unaltered since the beginning of time.

The History on Your Doorstep

While staying at St. George vacation rentals, most visitors enjoy excursions to the variety of historic sites around the region. The first Mormon Temple is found here. The Saint George LDS temple was completed in 1877, making it the first to be completed in Utah. It is a stunning white structure and a local landmark. Other Mormon historic sites include Brigham Young Winter Home and Jacob Hamblin Home. Venturing into downtown St. George, visitors will enjoy Ancestor Square for its historic buildings housing shops, galleries and boutiques.

There are two preserved ghost towns here. One is Grafton Ghost Town, located on the Smithsonian Butte backway. Another worth seeing is Silver Reef Ghost Town, the site of a community that sprang up because of the discovery of rich veins of silver nearby. Here, there is a small museum in the old Wells Fargo Express office and the building is on the National Historical Register. Take care when exploring the area around this old ghost town; open shafts remain and caution is advised. North of the city, visitors can visit the Pine Valley Church. Built by shipbuilder Ebenezer Bryce, the chapel resembles an upside-down ship’s hull. Dating from 1968, the building is still used as a chapel.
