  • Would We Stay Again? Absolutely!

"We stayed in this home for a long weekend. The location is great--right on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road very near Solitude Ski Resort and only a few minutes from Brighton Ski Resort. We skied both resorts. Road noise in the home was not an issue at all. We had eight adults in our party. This clean and tidy home accommodated us easily--plenty of beds (high quality bedding) and a wonderful dining room with plenty of space and seats. The kitchen is well stocked and easy to use. We also enjoyed the short walk to Sliver Fork Lodge for several great meals (loved the spinach salad and the salmon benedict). The home's many windows add a ton of light. We enjoyed both living rooms, including the wood stove in the main living room. The numerous aspen trees around the home add to the beautiful mountain setting. Sarah, the owner, is prompt in responding and delightful. She has lived in the area for some time and shared great local knowledge. This rental feels like a welcoming home--a cozy place for groups large and small to sit and talk or play a game. We have stayed in many vrbo homes and this one gets a thumbs up. Would we stay again? Absolutely!"

  • Spring break

"Great location, easy access from Salt Lake City, tons of snow. Everything we needed was there. Nathan gave us all info we needed for trip. Would recommend skiing additional resorts close by if staying more than 2 days as Solitude somewhat small. No crowds at all."

  • powderhorn

"We could not have had a more convenient or comfortable condo for our stay. Powderhorn and Solitude are great for families and Kevin was so accessible and friendly to work with and was flexible in meeting our requests. You can't go wrong staying here. Club Solitude and the other activities available were nice for our day off and the Cottonwood Heights area is not far away for groceries, etc."

  • Eagle Springs East review

"Nice place. Well kept. Owner was very good to work with. Plenty of kitchen cookware for eating in which was nice. Convenience to Club Solitude was a real plus as was having lockers downstairs for ski stuff. All in all very nice and would stay here again."

Solitude Travel Tips

The Peace and Quiet of Solitude Vacation Rentals

The European-style traffic–free village of Solitude has charming alpine architecture, spectacular mountain scenery and superb skiing. It is like a Bavarian alpine village in miniature, with its low-rise condos and stores. It is also one of the best-kept secrets in the world of winter snow sports, along with neighboring Brighton. Calm, peaceful and crowd-free, it is the perfect place to enjoy precious time relaxing with family and friends in quiet solitude. The 1,200 acres of wide open bowls, steep chutes and cruising slopes remain uncrowded and there is something to appeal to every age and skill level.

The Weather at Utah Vacation Rentals

Solitude has its own unique weather pattern due to its elevation and location. Average winter temperatures are below freezing and maintain the excellent dry snow conditions. In the summer months, temperatures range from 60 to 72 Fahrenheit (15 to 22 Celcius) and the area has very little rainfall, making this the ideal place for outdoor pursuits away from the desert summer heat.

Reasons to Consider Solitude Vacation Houses

Those who enjoy the comforts of home, plenty of space, a comfortable living area around the fireplace, and plenty of bedrooms for all the family should consider a vacation home in Solitude rather than a hotel room. The amenities in a house often include a washer and dryer which is a must for those with children. The fully equipped kitchens make it easy to cater to different diets and mealtimes. Those with young children can relax in the separate living area and watch TV after the kids' bedtime which is impossible in a shared hotel room. Larger families and groups of friends will find the cost of Solitude vacation houses work out to be very affordable per head.

Things to Do from Your Utah Vacation Rentals

Dining out is a pleasure around your Solitude vacation home. Head for the laid-back Creekside Restaurant or the award-winning French cuisine at Bernards. The Bavarian-style hotel in the village center offers fine dining in a great family-friendly atmosphere. Even more fun can be had by skiing nearly a mile to Yurt where the chef prepares a gourmet meal as you sit and watch. More casual dining is also on offer around the village, within easy walking distance of your Solitude vacation home.

In the winter, put on your skis or snowshoes and head out to the uncrowded slopes and your choice of 64 runs. Ice skating, Nordic skiing and family entertainment, such as Puppet Theater, are all available to enjoy. Solitude has some of the best snowboarding with long groomed runs and backcountry chutes, making it a snowboarding mecca.

When the snow melts, the action continues with hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, golf, fishing, hunting, whitewater rafting, rock hounding and extreme sports. Skydiving, hang gliding, mountaineering, BMX racing, canyoning, off-road Jeep tours and caving are all available in the area.

Solitude Condos Are Easy to Reach

Solitude is just 28 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport and a shuttle service runs to Solitude, meaning that no time is lost in hitting the slopes. Rental cars are also available for those wanting to explore the surrounding area.

Places to Visit from Solitude Vacation Rentals

Salt Lake City has a fascinating past, closely linked to the Mormon faith. The city has many informative museums exhibiting everything imaginable from fossilized dinosaur skeletons to abstract art. The Utah Museum of Fine Arts, the Pioneer Memorial Museum, and the Classic Cars International Auto Museum all provide for fun days out. Ogden is within easy reach of your Solitude lodging and has a historic district around 25th Street or you can visit the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park. There are a host of national parks in the area, including Arches National Park, the stunning red rocks of Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands National Park, and Zion National Park.
