  • Incredible cabin, great location, the kids loved it!!!

"Our stay in the Papa Bear Lodge was absolutely incredible. The property met and exceeded our expectations. It was clean, spacious, and perfect for a large group. The kids loved all of the fun amenities (foosball, pool, playground, playroom, theater), and it was large enough that we didn't feel like we were on top of each other all weekend. The kitchen was great for preparing large meals and was very well equipped. The property manager was on top of things, and was there to greet us when we arrived. The beach was close enough to walk to, wasn't rocky like some of the other beaches we've been to at bear lake, and had the very gradual downslope that makes it great for younger kids and parents trying to corral the kids. We also ended up doing several other fun activities that were a short drive away, including hiking and horseback riding. We rented waverunners and paddleboards on the south end of the lake because were were late in the season and all but 1 location had shut down, but I saw a rental location just north of the cabin that was very close and convenient, and had only closed the Saturday prior. Even then it was only a 10 minute drive to get to the beach on the South end. If you're after one of the famous bear lake shakes, I'd try the Chevron gas station on Hwy 89 just as you come into Garden City. Yes, the gas station. It's about 3 minutes from the cabin. The only issue we had (and it was minor) was that the fire pit in the backyard is gas, which is super convenient, but doesn't get as hot as a wood fire, so cooking over it (hot dogs, s'mores) doesn't have quite the same results. We had no issues with booking or payment. We had to change our arrival date, and they re-booked us without any issues. We are definitely planning to use this place again, possibly a weekend during the winter as it's just a great "getaway" location."

  • I'll be going back

"The view, the convenience, and the space were all great. The owner was very quick to respond as I booked last minute. We didn't have much time to enjoy the other amenities, we spent all our time on the slopes. It was nice to know they were available."

  • Family trip to Brianhead

"Went to Brianhead over spring break. The condo was just as advertised - very close to the lift, perfect for a family of 5 or more. The kitchen was nicely equipped and there were enough linens for all. The owner is easy to work with. I would recommend this property and hope to come back."

  • Moab solitude.

"If you are looking for a great retreat from the crowds in a terrific setting and if you have a four wheel drive vehicle this place is for you. The owner John, is very engaging and has been upfront about the only drawback of this cabin. It is difficult to get to. (On the other hand, that is part of its charm!). The road that Google suggests, Sand Flats, comes in from the West and North and is a legitimate jeep road in many sections. We arrived late in the day during a rain storm and between the narrow, rocky, muddy surface and the sharp curves that hug small canyon walls, it got a little exciting. It didn't take us long, however, to discover a much easier way in from the South. I highly recommend, for those less adventurous souls, that the trek up LaSal Mountain Loop Road to a much shorter segment of Sand Flats is preferable. The final quarter mile to the cabin is a rocky and muddy road that turns off of Sand Flats. Again I highly recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle with ample clearance. The access to the property and the property setting are beautiful on their own. The porch offers great views of Canyonlands, Arches, and the LaSal mountains. Take time to hike around the property, enjoy sunrise and sunset and the great night sky. The cabin itself is very clean, we'll decorated and equipped, and very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. We used the queen bed in the back bedroom and found it very comfortable. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the best nature has to offer. It took us about an hour and a half to get from it to either Arches or Canyonlands. Those parks are awesome and to some degree when you stay at the property you feel a bit like you never left them. That works out well since, at least in our case, between the road conditions and the travel times we sometimes felt we had to leave the National Parks a little early so we could avoid traveling the jeep road in the dark and rain. Bottom line, if you are a bit adventuresome this property is a great place to stay. You'll make some unexpected memories and have some great stories."
