"Our spring skiing trip was better than we thought possible. First time to Smuggs and we were impressed by the range of easy to difficult trails, great snow conditions and the excellent ski school. Our 4 year old had a blast in the full day camps. Loved the magic show. Great view onto the slopes from the condo and plenty of living room space made it easy to take a long lunch or call it an early day and stay in to play with the kids. Only downside of all condos at Smuggs is that it is a hike to get to Madonna and Sterling peaks, but you can take the shuttle if the green traverse trail is too tiring. We'd surely come back."

"I came up from Philadelphia for a few days relaxation with my yellow lab. The cottage was adorable--clean, cozy and filled with light. Set on a hill overlooking Star Lake, the cottage has amazing views out over the Green Mountains and I could have spent my entire time happily sitting on the deck or playing fetch with my dog in the meadows surrounding the cottage. Hikes beckoned, however, and Sam and I enjoyed walking on Healdville Trail, in Coolidge State Park, in the forest near Chester and on a closed road near the cottage. It was easy to find good local food nearby (Belmont Village Store, Crows Nest Bakery and Opera Cafe in Proctorsville, the Friday Farmers Market in Ludlow, Singletons in Proctorsville, the Wine and Cheese store in Ludlow). The cottage is in a great spot for exploring nearby towns and villages (Weston, Chester, Grafton) yet feels very secluded and serene. Ron was extremely helpful and friendly but also completely respected our privacy. We followed his suggestion of walking up the hill behind the cottage to watch the sunset, and were amply rewarded. We'll be back!"

"My wife and I had a wonderful experience here. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and the cottage was great. While the kitchenette was small, it was surprisingly well stocked. The heated floors in the bathroom were clutch. The bed was very comfortable. The hot tub was perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes. Even for double the price, I doubt you could find a private cabin to beat this place. The only downside is the that the drive isn't paved, so if you happen to get a snow dump, make sure you've got a car that can handle it."

"My husband and I spent a week at this very nice country home in Barton, for our annual foliage vacation. Gail was very accessible and helpful from the very beginning of our interest in the home. I had several questions, that I needed answered before we could make our decision to rent, and Gail always got back to me very quickly to answer my questions. My husband and I found the house very comfortable and it had everything we needed, plenty of towels, hot water, kitchen accessories, wi fi worked well, all of which I cannot say for some other properties we have rented. Gail was available to us throughout our stay. She also had a personal greeting, on the dry erase board that greeted us, just inside the door, as well as an apple crisp and Vermont cheese, among other goodies, in the refrigerator. I would recommend this property for families, as there is plenty of space for children to play and make noise, as well as just for adults who like to get away from the hustle and bustle and have some quiet. Very nice view of the mountains, also, and very close to I91 to get to other parts of Vermont. A nice grocery store and two restaurants for breakfast/lunch all within a 5 minute drive, also."
