  • Fantastic House

"We and another family stayed at the house for a 5-day weekend over New Year's. The house is very cozy and the kitchen was well equipped, high end cookware & sharp knives! The kitchen table was perfect for our 8 person games and the den in the back of the house was a good spot for the teens to hang. Bedrooms & beds were comfortable and house is in a nice quiet neighborhood and very close to Stratton. Owners responded to our one question immediately. I would highly recommend this house & look forward to a return visit soon."

  • Great week of skiing

"My wife, 2 kids and I stayed at this house for the Christmas week to enjoy the skiing at nearby Okemo and Killington - both about 30-40min away. We could not have been happier and more comfortable! First and foremost, the house is beautiful. While the pictures on this page are nice they don't compare to the real thing - plenty of space for the 4 of us, great views of mountains, newly renovated, comfy living room with fireplace (perfect after skiing), very high valted ceiling - felt like a chalet in the Swiss mountains. We were happily surprised to find a lot of treats/holiday decor upon arrival. Lastly, Carolyn and Chris are really great people - very accommodating, available and with lots of great ideas, tips, ski advice, etc. - We were very happy and will be coming back."

  • Beautiful House, Beautiful Lake

"My family (wife, mother, stepfather, sister, Charlie our dog) and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house at the end of August 2014. We had never been to this part of the U.S. It was a beautiful drive up from New York City. Coming from the south Isle La Motte is one of the more remote Champlain Islands and you have to cross multiple causeways. While the area is remote it is certainly not wilderness. On the other hand, it is not a place where you can drive a couple of miles and easily find a place to eat or buy groceries. The house has a great layout and it is perfect for the type of family trip we imagined. The large 1st floor living space and the open kitchen make for a perfect shared experience. The house has all the necessities and more in abundance. It doesn't have cable TV. For some of us this was a surprise. The property is right on the lake and going out on the deck and catching the breeze and the sun shining off the lake was a favorite thing to do. The deck was also the site for a memorable barbecue. We did some fun things while there: renting kayaks and rowboats, hiking around the Mt. Stowe area (admittedly a bit of a drive), eating out at the local restaurants (good if not great cooking). We were a bit disappointed by the lack of local farmer's markets and fresh produce, but perhaps, we didn't know where to go. All in all, while the area didn't WOW us; our consensus was the house and its comforts were GREAT and for that reason I've given 5 stars."

  • Well Appointed Lakefront Home

"My husband and two adult children just spent one week at the Samson vacation property. The home overlooks the lake is only 10 mins from St.Albans. It is a large 3 bedroom bungalow with all the amenities including a fully stocked kitchen, 5 appliances, bbq, 1 1/2 bathrooms, nicely appointed living room and the queen and double beds are very comfortable. The home was clean however some finer "details" such as the coffee pot and wine glasses were missed. Lake access was a bit difficult as there is a 5' drop and the stairs which had been broken had not yet been replaced. The beach is very rocky, so water shoes are needed and there is no dock so when we left our boat in the water during the day it had to be anchored off-shore and removed daily. Lake Champlain is beautiful and quite warm. My husband and son fished daily and my daughter and I cycled everyday as the roadways are excellent and the scenery is fantastic. Steve a family member who leaves a few doors away was very helpful and responsive to our needs. We ran out of propane and before I knew it he had the tank refilled. Note, there was a requirement to launder all linens before leaving but with a 10 am check-out, we felt there was not enough time so we brought and used our own. All and in all and great location and comfortable home."
