  • Everything and More

"This house has it all. From the minute we walked in the door everyone just looked around in awe. Since I was the one to book the place I knew what was hiding down in the basement. The "game room" turned out to be the place to be at night. There were 8 of us and plenty of room for everyone to sleep and a spacious kitchen and dining room. The owners have thought of everything. It starts with a very thorough email listing everything you need to know about the property and the surrounding area. Once inside there are spare pillows, blankets, towels etc so you don't have to worry about anything. The kitchen had all the necessary tools and appliances that only the most particular of chefs would complain. The bedrooms were comfortable and quiet. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to get away and enjoy a relaxing vacation. Despite being off the beaten path this place is still only a short ride to Killington and Pico mountains, the towns or Rutland and Woodstock, as well as several of Vermont's local breweries and restaurants. Hopefully I can come up with an excuse to come back soon."

  • Remarkable home. Visually stunning, while still cozy and amazingly equipped.

"My family traveled to the Couching Lion from Georgia to meet up with our New Englander family members over the New Year. All of us were astounded by this home. The views from here are beautiful and the home is a wonder in and of itself. Even with gorgeous, soaring beamed ceilings, it remained cozy and warm. Thoughtful use of energy-smart construction such as radiant floor heating and foam insulation was clearly employed with a wonderful outcome. We encountered unseasonably cold, below zero temperatures (frigid, even according to the locals) but we were always content inside the home. The kitchen, according to the chefs in my family, was the best equipped they had ever seen. There is a fabulous buck stove to snuggle up next to and a large living room for family board games and movie watching. The open floor plan on the main floor allows for great flow and conversation. Then, there is ample room in the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms for sleeping and relaxing. The home is incredibly clean and Zeph and Beverly are warm and easy to communicate with. Due to the polar vortex we encountered, we only skied two days. Still, we were delighted with the variety of things to do nearby. The kids enjoyed sledding down the hill behind the elementary school for about 30 mins until toes began screaming. The tour of Ben and Jerry's was a hit with all. Our top two favorites, though, were the glass blowing demonstration at the local gallery and the tour of the Trapp Family Lodge. We were pleasantly surprised by the in-depth history and great storytelling we enjoyed at that Lodge. I think that even those who are not big Sound of Music Fans will like it. We highly recommend this home for a memorable vacation any time of year!"

  • Great home, tons of amenities

"Pros: - Proximity to Sugarbush is great - Pool table is very nice and well kept - Hot Tub is great, right off the master suite so easily accessible - Plenty of space to hang out and enjoy yourself in common areas - Large backyard and land behind the house for outdoor activities and exploring Cons: - Smallish kitchen made it somewhat difficult for food prep. - Road to get to house is difficult to navigate in the dark and after inclement weather since it's narrow and on an incline. Be prepared for slick conditions when driving up to the house. Great overall experience, neighbors were helpful with inclement road conditions. House is beautiful, highly recommend having your group stay there for your next Sugarbush trip."
