  • Family gathering in rural Vermont

"This house is amazing! Located in a picturesque village in the northeastern Vermont it is definitely remote but perfect for a family gathering. As with other comments, the kitchen is small but we took care of that by each taking turns cooking. We loved our evenings around the dinner table playing cards. There was plenty of room for ten with the big bedrooms and private bathrooms. It was very clean and well stocked, lots of towels! We had planned to snowshoe and snow board but it was rainy although we were surrounded by snow. So we ate our way though the area..beer tasting at 2 breweries (including the brewery at the Von Trapp Lodge in Stowe), cheese tasting at Cabot and ice cream at the Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory. John, the owner, was very helpful and easy to work with. We definitely hope to be back!"

  • Aspen Luxury in the East

"We rented MH for our frat old guys weekend; 35 pathetic mid-aged males with high standards. While most Killington properties mirror the decrepit hotel in Hot Tub Time Machine, MH was literally a Western-ski resort luxury-style home. MH is perfect for entertainment as a sweeping outdoor deck and every room maximize stunning views of Killington peak. Pool, fooz-ball, 2 bars, huge kitchen and a Four Seasons-style enclosed hot tub with mountain views--we wanted to expropriate MH as our future assisted living facility. Ad to the the venue the concierge service of Ski-on-Skioff, Kevin and his crew dealt with everything from lost hikers to arranging 2 great catered meals from Phat Italian (highly recommended). Whether a large family outing, corporate getaway or just a bunch of old guys looking to "party", the size/scope of MH can accommodate it all."

  • Remarkable home. Visually stunning, while still cozy and amazingly equipped.

"My family traveled to the Couching Lion from Georgia to meet up with our New Englander family members over the New Year. All of us were astounded by this home. The views from here are beautiful and the home is a wonder in and of itself. Even with gorgeous, soaring beamed ceilings, it remained cozy and warm. Thoughtful use of energy-smart construction such as radiant floor heating and foam insulation was clearly employed with a wonderful outcome. We encountered unseasonably cold, below zero temperatures (frigid, even according to the locals) but we were always content inside the home. The kitchen, according to the chefs in my family, was the best equipped they had ever seen. There is a fabulous buck stove to snuggle up next to and a large living room for family board games and movie watching. The open floor plan on the main floor allows for great flow and conversation. Then, there is ample room in the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms for sleeping and relaxing. The home is incredibly clean and Zeph and Beverly are warm and easy to communicate with. Due to the polar vortex we encountered, we only skied two days. Still, we were delighted with the variety of things to do nearby. The kids enjoyed sledding down the hill behind the elementary school for about 30 mins until toes began screaming. The tour of Ben and Jerry's was a hit with all. Our top two favorites, though, were the glass blowing demonstration at the local gallery and the tour of the Trapp Family Lodge. We were pleasantly surprised by the in-depth history and great storytelling we enjoyed at that Lodge. I think that even those who are not big Sound of Music Fans will like it. We highly recommend this home for a memorable vacation any time of year!"

  • Great Labor Day Weekend

"Great lake views, cute little cottage. Water was great for swimming, lounging, and fishing. We didn't have a boat, but there is a boat rental close by. Everything you need is at the cottage: grill, microwave, stove, fridge, floating things for the water, board games, TV/internet, etc. There are only twin beds, which is a negative, and they are not really able to be squeezed together because of the layout of the rooms. Water in the plumbing is not for drinking or cooking, however some drinking water is supplied and was enough for two people for the entire weekend of cooking and making drinks and coffee. Not really a big deal. I would visit again (and give 5 stars) if the rooms were changed to allow a queen bed (supporting posts split the bedrooms). Besides the sleeping arrangements, this place was very charming and we had a great time."
