  • Arlingthon house

"We stayed in this house with my parents and enjoyed it very much. It is well laid out, is light and uplifting and in a great location with regard to Arlington, VT. It is right on the Battenkill River. We could bike ride into Arlington, Kayak many miles of the river and fly fish adjacent to the property. Although on 313, traffic sounds did not detract from the experience. We have stayed in 3 other houses in VT over the past 8 years and if available, we would be returning to this one next year. A word about the Battenkill. It has the reputation of being one of the most difficult fly fishing rivers in the world and that reputation is well deserved. However, the owner recommended Tom Goodman a fly fishing guide with Battenkill Anglers who has fished the river for 40 years as a guide and I hired him. I would highly recommend anyone planning on fly fishing this river to Tom. He helped unlock mysteries of the Battenkill for me that I have not, in 8 years been able to do on my own. Again, we will go right back to this house and to Tom next year if both are available."

  • An amazing getaway!

"We have been bringing our family here annually for more than ten years now. We originally came to Chester for our annual ski trip because of its proximity to great ski resorts (Okemo, Bromley, Magic Mountain). We fell in love with the town, the house and the wonderful apartments inside. We have since stayed here in summertime and the fall, taking advantage of the scenery and the great outdoors in Vermont. The drive up to Chester from New York only takes about 4 hours and the town is situated more or less in the middle of the state, so everything you want to do in Vermont is easily accessible. This magical colonial barn has been renovated to modern comfort and convenience without losing the charm of its history. It is always clean and cozy when we arrive. When the fireplace is lit and you are relaxing on the couch, looking out past the lawn and into the Vermont woods, there is nowhere else you'd rather be. Our children grew up here on our yearly visits, playing cards and cooking dinners after skiing, building snow forts and snowmen, trekking into town, and playing outside. Every visit we are greeted as long time friends. We all truly feel like we have extended our family thanks to the hospitality and friendship of this Chester family and their fantastic New England barn. It is a place full of the best memories and a location that we treasure. Your stay here will be remarkable!"

  • Awesome!

"Condo was perfect for us. We only ended up being 5 and had tons of space. Modern and clean, we loved the open floor space. Nothing negative to review."

  • Charming place to spend a vacation

"Four of us from the Midwest spent a week in this charming lakeside camp during peak foliage color. The camp itself is very clean and super comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed just hanging out on the dock, the deck, or enjoying the view from inside. We really had a good time taking in the fall foliage festivals in the surrounding small towns. Groton State Forest is very close and offers a variety of interesting hiking options and amazing scenic views. Farther away attractions we took in were the Shelburne Museum and Mt. Washington. We never ran out of things to do, but, if we did there was a lot of information about nearby activities and attractions in books and folders at the camp. The owner was very helpful in answering questions about the best time to visit, how to get to the camp, and in making sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives - in fact, we already have! This is a beautiful part of the state, and a perfect place to stay to enjoy it."
