"My family (wife, mother, stepfather, sister, Charlie our dog) and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house at the end of August 2014. We had never been to this part of the U.S. It was a beautiful drive up from New York City. Coming from the south Isle La Motte is one of the more remote Champlain Islands and you have to cross multiple causeways. While the area is remote it is certainly not wilderness. On the other hand, it is not a place where you can drive a couple of miles and easily find a place to eat or buy groceries.
The house has a great layout and it is perfect for the type of family trip we imagined. The large 1st floor living space and the open kitchen make for a perfect shared experience. The house has all the necessities and more in abundance. It doesn't have cable TV. For some of us this was a surprise.
The property is right on the lake and going out on the deck and catching the breeze and the sun shining off the lake was a favorite thing to do. The deck was also the site for a memorable barbecue.
We did some fun things while there: renting kayaks and rowboats, hiking around the Mt. Stowe area (admittedly a bit of a drive), eating out at the local restaurants (good if not great cooking).
We were a bit disappointed by the lack of local farmer's markets and fresh produce, but perhaps, we didn't know where to go.
All in all, while the area didn't WOW us; our consensus was the house and its comforts were GREAT and for that reason I've given 5 stars."

"My wife, two sons (ages 8 and 12) and nephew (also 12) enjoyed almost a week of great skiing in this lovingly cared for condo. We were able to ski out and ski in from a short walk to the front of the building and an easy glide to the Sunrise ski lift. The condos in the Sunrise area are classic 1980s with a modern design. This unit is sunny and bright and has an updated kitchen, which we used every morning to cook huge breakfasts. New appliances, great pots and pans, colanders, mixing bowls, baking sheet, coffee maker (and filters), teapot, toaster, razor sharp knives and all the incidentals you might need like olive oil, salt, pepper, sugar, some spices too. The living area was very comfortable with a deep couch and chair to relax your tired bones in, new TV with cable. We lit a fire one night and wished we'd used it every night. The boys shared the two bedrooms upstairs between them. There was an over/under washer/dryer unit upstairs that we used to dry wet gloves and bathing suits. The bathrooms had soaps, toothpaste and thick cotton towels. Bedrooms were tidy and warm with extra blankets and pillows. We took full advantage of the Sunrise Village sports center, which has an indoor pool and hot tub as well as an outdoor hot tub. It's a short drive from the condo, but the boys loved it every day and I soaked my sore muscles in the hot water and sat in the sauna. The owners are very attentive and thoughtful. You're not likely to find someone as conscientious and responsive. Would highly recommend staying at this property."

"Four of us from the Midwest spent a week in this charming lakeside camp during peak foliage color. The camp itself is very clean and super comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed just hanging out on the dock, the deck, or enjoying the view from inside. We really had a good time taking in the fall foliage festivals in the surrounding small towns. Groton State Forest is very close and offers a variety of interesting hiking options and amazing scenic views. Farther away attractions we took in were the Shelburne Museum and Mt. Washington. We never ran out of things to do, but, if we did there was a lot of information about nearby activities and attractions in books and folders at the camp. The owner was very helpful in answering questions about the best time to visit, how to get to the camp, and in making sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives - in fact, we already have! This is a beautiful part of the state, and a perfect place to stay to enjoy it."
